Why does Chester wear a muzzle? staffy_mylo.beagle
Chester wears a muzzle for a number of reasons but mainly to help with his dog reactivity.
A few years ago he became very nervous of other dogs being in his space after a couple of encounters with boisterous / over friendly dogs when out and about. His bright muzzle creates a visual signal to other owners that he needs space and that he doesn't want dogs, off lead or on lead, near him. Of course this is reinforced by his human, who will tell others to recall their dogs and give him plenty space when passing other dogs on paths etc. In addition, Chester himself can get too excited particularly with smaller fluffy dogs and the muzzle creates a barrier from any accidental harm if one were to approach. He has also been known to eat rubbish (pavement snacks) that he shouldn't. Including a discarded KFC from a bush once, bag and all, the muzzle again is a barrier for this behaviour.
Since introducing the muzzle we have worked with behaviourists, dog trainers and independently to reassure Chester around other dogs and his reactivity is much less frequent and severe. But most of all we enjoy being an advocate for muzzles when people ask us about it on walks or online we're happy to explain. Chester loves fuss from people. Everyone who knows him knows how soft he is and it really helps to break muzzle stigma (for us at least) that he's not a "bad dog" and that muzzled dogs are good dogs too!

I asked a good friend of mines, who’s also a dog trainer why she uses long lines, I personally am obsessed with them. Especially with our newest rescue, Ollie, gives him the freedom he needs to grow in confidence aswell as giving me control if I need to.
My long line holders have been extremely popular this month, so thought I’d add that into the post too!

I have had a lot of requests recently for awareness leads for smaller dogs, I will be adding width options on the website this weekend, so it’s easier for you to order and not have to go through custom orders. Which means you’ll have the option to have a thinner width that is still personalised. I’ll have the option to have a 16mm width, which comes with smaller, more lightweight clip too! Also feel free to add your dogs size/weight into the order notes so I know exactly what size clip to put on the lead, just to make sure your order is perfect for you and your pup!

I got the pleasure to meet lovely .woof.woof and his mum Shannon at P in the Park, Winston has some bad allergies and even though his mum advocates for him and tells people not to feed him any treats, unfortunately they still do which can make Winston really unwell!
So I’ve made him a custom orange collar with DO NOT FEED on it in hopes that this will remind and deter people not to give him a treat 🤞🏻

Did you know that mum was the one to design the double ended multiple handled lead? She needed something that was specific to her and Apollo’s needs, a handle and clip at each end, with multiple grab handles along the length.

Traffic handles are probably one of my favourite products to use - they allow me to give dogs extra freedom being off lead but then gives me the ability to hold them in close when I need to.

A big chunk of orders have gone out today and the rest of your outstanding orders should be out by Monday - the wee man is finally ok with my banging and noise that happens when I make your leads and collars.
I will be doing a story sale at some point this week with items that I have sitting and made, ready to go. There’s nothing wrong with these items, I’ve either got the sizes wrong or I’ve made them for markets etc. Should be around 10-15 items.

So we did a thing…
This little guy needed an urgent foster, so we decided to open up our doors to him - he’s only 6 months older but has already settled so incredibly well!
Unfortunately this means that I’m a little behind on orders, due to helping him settle and not creating any loud noises that might spook him (he’s had a rough 6 months 🥺).
My aim is get orders that were made before the 3rd of April out by Tuesday latest, some will be sent today, tomorrow and Tuesday (bank holiday Monday).
