Joey's looking for a new home! Joey is a fantastic dog who would suit a very active pet home and would excel in most dog sports.
Any questions please feel free to get in touch with us, or contact his owner with the email provided.
Details provided:
Joey is a cross of Australian kelpie and border collie, with a dash of German shepherd, and needs a new home.
He’s black, with a white tummy and white front paws, and usually his weight is around 18-19kg, making him a medium sized dog.
He was born early may of 2020 so is currently about 2.5 years old, and still has plenty of his puppy energy and excitement. He has been neutered.
We’re looking for a new home for Joey, although we don’t really want to, because it’s not fair for us to keep him. Having had a baby this year, we no longer have the time to dedicate to training him, playing with him, and talking him on long walks. As much as we love him, we feel he could be much happier somewhere else.
Joeys breeds make him super smart, super inquisitive; and always eager to learn. He loves nothing more than training and games, and has also enjoyed agility training and scent training. We’d love for his new home to be a place where he can work or play more, or have other dog company while being engaged with people.
In terms of training, he’s had a lot. He went to Perfeq Pets in Soham for quite a long time during his first year, and some in 2022. Linda, cam and the team did great work with him, identifying some behaviours we’ve worked to change and helping with us to manage his attention over the years.
Commands he knows:
Sit
Down (lay down)
Off (of the sofa, or when jumping up)
Spin (on the spot)
Paws on (stand here)
Wait
Go
Watch (look me in the face)
Back (walk back from the spot)
Up (into car boots, beds)
Come (recall, usually really quite good unless chasing something)
Settle (down, to relax)
Play dead (working on this)
Find it (go find a hidden treat/toy/person)
He’s done some scent work and the hoopers agility stuff too, which he was really good at, and he really enjoyed.
He’s fully vaccinated, had all his worms and fleas, as well as kennel cough. He’s never had any health issues apart from one bout of gastroenteritis which was resolved by the vets.
He likes other people, he’s really affectionate when not distracted. He loves playing with other dogs too, especially fast ones and big ones. He tends to bark at little dogs.
He’s never hurt a person, nor have we ever been concerned about him with our baby. He tends to just ignore, or even go to another room for some peace and quiet.
He’s happy off lead and happy being transported by car in a crate too. We crate trained him as a puppy, so should that be something you want to reintroduce it shouldn’t be an issue.
We’d never see him go into a kennel - nor would we give him away if we didn’t think his quality of life was improving. Ideally, he’d have a home with space, maybe a similar dog, no noisy babies, or to someone intent on training him to compete or something - but that might be unrealistic.
My email is [email protected] should anyone wish to discuss. And thanks.
