Won Best Puppy Dog,
Then Won Best Puppy in Breed ❤️

Unfortunately we never managed to win Best Puppy in Show but he loved his first time of hopefully many in the Big Main Ring on the green carpet.

Now to see what this Saturday brings at Darlington, North Riding open show and North of England Hunt, Point Retrieve Club Open Show.
Then Monday he has Driffield Champ show so fingers crossed for a great weekend coming up

Hardest things I've ever done, Saying the final GoodBye to my 2 oldest girls today, Zara & Meg (mum & daughter) Now they are both out of pain and Running Free over the Rainbow Bridge together. Both went peacefully in my arms cuddled into each other.
Run Free my wee girls love yous to the moon and back always my wee princesses 🐶🐶💔💔🌈🌈xx

**** please read following on from my last post on Saturday ****

Anyone that has still missed out on their dogs grooms from January please text me if you want an appointment, TEXT ONLY on 07714147986 the list I had was destroyed in my pocket while washing dogs 🤦‍♂️

As we know covid has been with us just over 2 years and the last 4 months has been the hardest and worst for us as a small business with customers calling late with Covid/Reschedule cancellations, now Covid is here to stay for a while yet we have to learn to live with it.

As I said on last post covid is NO LONG WAVERED from cancellations/Reschedule fees.

Everyone gets the cancellation/ reschedule Company Policy in a text when the dogs appointment is made and again with our Complimentary reminder text the day before that you NEED TO CANCEL/RESCHEDULE 48 hours BEFORE THE APPORTIONMENT or there will be fees to pay NOT when we send out the Complimentary reminder day before. Your hairdresser and other companies have these very same policies.

We simply can not stay afloat as a small business wavering fees anymore.
We have wavered them all 2 years of covid as we considered our customers on furlough and lesser wages struggling and not wanting to put more stress on them, but now it is us struggling we are needing your help now.

I said last week unfortunately due to all the late Covid/Reschedule appointments missed, we sadly have to say a sad farewell to Stef our dog washer she is a highly valuable member of our staff but with the loss of over £3k lost earnings in the first quarter of the year we can NO Longer afford to employ Stef 😢.
This is heart breaking for us and Stef as it has NOT BEEN her fault she's is losing her favourite job working with your dogs and that she excels and loves it's but due to the short fall of all the late cancellations unfortunately we have to let her go until we build back up customer base. We have spaces in May so please text us to book your dog back in.

A for instance January with almost 30 missed appointments the time the bills and staff wages were paid, I was left with my pay of a measly £380 for the whole month, a 5 week month ment I worked for under £1.50 per hour.
I would like to ask who would be willing to accept that if their employer gave that as their monthly wage, I'm sure it would be NO ONE so why do I have to accept it!
So anyone wanting a job that's paying you less than £1.50 hour just ask me I will employ you 🤷‍♂️.

Company policy for late cancellation/Reschedule within 48 hours is 50% of your dogs groom price.

Cancel/Reschedule or NO Show on the day is 100% of your dogs groom price as NO way we can reschedule another customer in at that short notice.

6 days after my last post on lost earnings just this week Tuesday to Friday we had 7 yes 7 Covid/late cancellations which is a further loss MINIMUM £280!
We can not keep working or even stay open if this keeps up. I'm sad to say it is not just your dog we have on our books we have others customers when it is all added up its a massive loss which can and does destroy a small business.

Please think about every Small Business and us as your dogs groomer when you do not give us the required time to move your dogs appointment there could be a time you call and your groomer or other small businesses are closed down.

So please consider us before making us all lose more earnings.

Times are hard for everyone I have and do come and go with my customers but be honest with me, like say your skint/struggling just say I have always been here to help best I can, could be your dogs is booked in say Tuesday but you've no wage till Wed or Thursday I will work with you best I can please just be honest with us we are all feeling the struggle with covid we need to help each other

** Long Post please read **

The last 2+ years with this virus covid has been hard for everyone and some more than others. We unlike some other groomers uk wide never increased our prices we took the hit buying all the disinfectants, gloves, masks hand sanitizers etc to save our customers being more out of pocket from their furlough payments as it was hard to survive for everyone.

We are a small business but we were always busy and full for around 6 to 8 weeks, but the start of this year has been the hardest 3 months for us as customers calling late or on the day that they have covid.

Our cancellation policy is min 48 hours or fees applied so for 2 years we took the hit again and never charged fees for covid. This has now stopped as this covid virus I think is going to be with us for years to come so covid cancellations will still be applied unfortunately.

First 3 months of the year we had late cancellations for covid we had no spaces to rebook our customers back in some had to wait till their next groom date 8 weeks later some I guess found another groom but it has left us out of pocket with lost earnings.

January 29 late cancellation equals lost earnings of £1,160 minimum!
February 22 late cancellations equals £880 lost earnings minimum.
March 20 late cancellations equals £800 lost earnings minimum

That makes the company £2,840 in lost earnings in just the first 3 months of the year as a small company there is no way they can survive with these loses I am asking for everyone to help us by giving us the time requested in our policy to cancel/move to let us try and fill these spaces as it states in the appointment texts you receive when your appointment is made. We send out a complimentary text the day before this is not for you to then call us you have to call us minimum day before that is sent out, it is the customers responsibility to make a note in their diary when the appointments are made most 8 weeks earlier after their dogs last groom.

The other impact this all has on us is that its had caused so much stress and anxiety to myself that 5 weeks ago I had to have time off work due to a suspected heart attack, so this does affect our health amd wellbeing as a small buisness owner we are only human not machines. So please be kind and help us as much as you all can by giving us as much time as you need to cancel/move your appointment and change it, to let's us try and find another dog needing in.

There has been alot of new customers wanting booked in with us but we had no spaces for them but they have missed out with all these late covid cancellations.

Another impact to our company is that with the losses from the first 3 month and the utility bills rising we have sadly had to make our valued staff member redundant at the end of this month and pay her off as we can't afford their wages and the other bills we have as a small company, which has made us so sad we have had to do this and take this step to try and survive. As of 1st May our pricing structure had had to also have a small increase to also help cover the increase in the utility and other bills that have also increases.

Please back all small companies the best you can to help them survive in these times that is hard for everyone.

You don’t have to be self employed.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people trying to earn a living with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!
