4 weeks ago a little feral kitten came into our care, it’s been a long road of hissing, biting and scratching 🐾but she’s learning to trust us and today she was able to have her vaccination ❤️ In a few weeks she’ll be spayed and we’ll decide what will be the perfect home for her. Meet Misty 🐈‍⬛

After 8 weeks of constant searching Bear’s Mum got the call that he was visiting a few gardens about half a mile away. He wouldn’t let anyone get too close as obviously in survival mode, so we set a trap…. He couldn’t resist Sid’s Sardines and within a few hours he secured and back in his very relieved Mum’s arms ❤️ Welcome home Bear ❤️

Today we received these amazing donations from Such good quality harnesses, leads, collars and cooling coats 😍 Thank you so much for sending them, when Luna, Haggis and the gang have finished choosing what they want to wear we will organise and auction to raise some much needed funds. Can you please share and keep an eye out if you are in the Abbeymead area. Bear has been missing since Sunday 16th June. He is chipped, he was wearing a blue collar. No one has seen him so he could be shut in a shed or garage somewhere, if you live near Farmington Close please check, his family are worried and want him home 💙

Big thank you to the couple who were enjoying lunch on a boat in the Docks today, a seagull with a plastic bag tangled around its legs was struggling to keep afloat. They took my net and were able to contain it and release the bag, the gull flew off without looking back! Many thanks to the lady who rang this in, and many others who were trying to help 😊

On 31st December it will become illegal for anyone to rehome XL Bully / Type dogs, that includes rescues. If they do not find a home who will follow the law, exempt them and ensure all the other conditions are followed, they will have to be euthanised 😔

Please, if you have the right sort of home required for these or any other XL Bully Type, get in touch, these poor dogs lives depend on it.

Sir Christopher Chope MP has tabled an Early Day Motion calling for the adding of XL Bully type into the Dangerous Dogs Act to be annulled. He has 2 other MP’s supporting him at the moment. Please write to your MP asking them to support this motion. A template can be found here

If you have an XL Bully or a dog that measures as one, please make sure you apply for a Certificate of Exemption.

From 31st December 2023, breeding, selling, advertising, rehoming, abandoning and allowing an American XL Bully to stray will be illegal.
From this date, these dogs must be kept on a lead and muzzled in public.

From 1st February 2024, it will become illegal to own an American XL Bully that does not have a Certificate of Exemption.

This law will apply to England and Wales

Confirmed case of Leptospirosis in Gloucester, this poor dogs vaccine wasn’t up to date. It’s a horrible life threatening disease, please make sure your dogs are fully vaccinated.

URGENT MESSAGE.
We have had a positive case of leptospirosis in a dog from Gloucester. This bacteria can be spread between dogs via urine so we urge all owners to check your dogs are up to date with their lepto vaccines to ensure they are protected from this potentially fatal disease.

To be clear, our intention is not to scaremonger. It is up to each owner to decide if they want to vaccinate or not. We are sharing the fact that we have had a very poorly dog ( not up to date with vaccinations) who tested positive for Leptospirosis that is potentially transmissible to another unvaccinated dogs. Using a social media platform shares this information for people to act as they wish, please do not attack us for trying to do the right thing. Lab results only return with a positive for Lepto not the strain. This result and symptoms presented show the strain in question is one that causes severe illness in dogs.

If you own an XL Bully, or something the ‘experts’ in parliament thinks measures like one, please get ready for this completely useless ban. Your dog will need to be neutered, microchipped to you, insured and used to walking on a fixed lead and muzzled in a public place (that includes a car) Alice is very experienced in handling and training dogs, please take her up on her offer to give your dog the best chance of being comfortable with the life that awaits them. In September our good friend and supporter is getting on his moped and riding around Great Britain to raise funds for us and Cancer Research UK. He’ll leave his hometown of Bury St Edmunds and take in a South Coast ride to Land’s End. He’ll then make his way up to John O’Groats, before heading home along the East Coast, in total he’ll be covering 2060 miles, which should take about 2 weeks. Today I collected a baby pigeon that had fallen from a nest but luckily landed in St James City Farm in Tredworth Gloucester. What an amazing place, it’s free entry, you can buy bags of food to feed the animals, you can also do very reasonably priced horse riding £5 per session. Please go along and support them 🐎 🐐 🐖 🐑 🐓

ISSUED ON BEHALF OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE POLICE: Officers in are appealing for information that may help to find a dog which is missing following the ex*****on of a warrant.
We were executing the warrant on Dudbridge Meadow at around 8.30am this morning when an XL Bully called Arrow escaped and ran away from the property.
Officers have been conducting searches in the area but are yet to locate Arrow and are now asking members of the public to report any sightings of him.
The Dog Warden at Stroud District Council has also been made aware.
Anyone who has seen Arrow is asked to not approach him but instead call police on 999 quoting incident 83 of 5 July as it is unknown how he will react.

This poor fox cub has been tangled in this discarded netting for 12 hours, thankfully locals who heard his screams managed to locate him in the thick hedging, and I was able to cut the netting from his neck, he didn’t hang around once free, but the fact he didn’t bite me while cutting through 4 strands of net, was thanks enough. Please don’t discard rope, string, netting or in fact anything, our wildlife deserve better.
