Yesterday, we headed out to a farm with itchy sheep and we found live scab mites (Psoroptes ovis). The farm will now be using the Gwaredu Scab funding to dip all their sheep. If you are worried you have itchy sheep and would like a chat, call us on 07586107140 ☎️.
FUN SCAB FACTS:
🐑 early clinical signs of scab can be subtle and often not detected until 60% of the flock is infested
🐑 scab mites can live off the host for 15-17 days
🐑 scab mites have a life cycle of 14 days and the population of scab mites can double every 6 days
