Each year, in Herefordshire alone there are around 350 dogs who find their way into the stray pound. Some go back home, sadly many are never reclaimed by their owners. These are the dogs we take care of, we provide them with shelter, either in our kennels or in a foster home, they receive any veterinary treatment they may need and they stay with us until a new home is found for them. We are also h

ere to help should circumstances arise that means you are unable to keep your dog. If you are having difficulties please give us a call, we will do our very best to help you find a new home for your pet. Herefordshire Council Animal activity license number: N-ANB59

We were so grateful when Golden Valley Dog Training Club chose us as their charity of the year for 2024.
We were absolutely thrilled when we were recently presented with an incredible cheque to the value of £1,000, this wonderful amount has been raised from inside the club by their fantastic team.

We are so lucky to receive such support from a local dog training club.
Thank you to all involved, we can’t thank you enough!

With so many dogs pouring through our doors, this will be huge help towards us continuing to care for them all.

THANK YOU to our lovely Jackie and her wonderful team of supporters for making their poker night such a huge success.

Fizz
Chihuahua
Approximately 2 years old

Teeny tiny Fizz is sadly an unclaimed stray. 2 years old is an estimate as we have no previous history for her.
Little Fizz may be tiny in size, but she sure makes up for it in confidence. A typical Chihuahua with the heart of a lion.

Although she was a little scared, Fizz was very brave at the vets whilst having her microchip, vaccination & full health check and is now ready to start searching for her forever family.

We are looking for a chihuahua experienced family who can welcome Fizz into their home and cherish her but also treat her as a dog should be, with boundaries.

What Fizz loves best is to sit on your lap and people watch, she hasn’t had any problems with meeting any people, she has been very sociable and affectionate with all she has met.

A home will another small friendly compatible dog MAY be possible, like many other chihuahuas little Fizz can be very vocal around other pets and sees anything bigger than herself as a threat.

As we have no previous history, any children living within the home must be 8 years old+.

Sprocker spaniel
3 years old

Beautiful boy Otto was adopted earlier this year into a wonderful family but it’s become apparent that he sadly suffers from separation anxiety and was becoming stressed.
Otto is an incredible lad, everything you’d expect from a spaniel…lively, active, affectionate, loyal and absolutely adorable!😍

We are looking for a family home with at least one friendly and sociable resident dog so that Otto has a friend or two to bond with and become less reliant on his humans.

Any children in the home must be 8 years+.

If you have an active lifestyle, where Otto can be involved in your adventures, be a big part of your family life and you have a spaniel sized space on your sofa we would love to hear from you!

Plea to pet owners.

Please, please if you have pets, please try and have something in place should anything happen to you, if you fall ill, in an emergency or otherwise incapacitated.
If you have family, friend/s, neighbour/s aware of your pets needs and arrangements that you can trust to act on your behalf, it means they can ensure your pet/s will have a safe space and be cared for temporarily or long term if required.

We have recently been receiving an increasing amount of calls and messages regarding dogs that need temporary care.
Unfortunately, we physically aren’t in a position to be able to help provide care for dogs belonging to members of the public.
We will always try our very best to help and advise, so please do feel free to contact us if needed and we can point you in the right direction.

More information on the stray found yesterday.

Does anyone recognise this dog?
From our knowledge this poor boy has had at least 8 homes since birth!
We believe he arrived in Hereford a few months ago and has been passed around ever since!

We would hope he does have a genuine recent owner who is missing him, rather than just being abandoned.
Proof of ownership will be required.

Appears to be in very good condition so hopefully has a lovely home.

No collar/tag.
Microchip - no answer, also chipped out of the local area, possibly to breeder.

Little update on our 3 recent strays.

1 week on since these poor little poppets were thrown over a hedge in a crate before running free in the busy road, we are pleased to tell you that they are safe, clean and above all else LOVED & RESPECTED!

1. Little ‘Casper’ the 10 year old Pomeranian is absolutely delightful. A true sweetheart who loves to cuddle and be close to you! Sadly he’s been a little under the weather the past few days but seems to have bounced back now.. We have a wonderful foster home lined up for this little chap🥰
2. ‘Forrest’ the 3 year old pug x cavalier (at a guess) is a gorgeous little girl. Lovingly named by her finders, she was the runner that took hours to catch (if you know, you know!). Very timid initially but once she trusts you, you will have made a friend for life. Beautiful little soul. 💗
3. Little ‘Harvey’ the crossbreed pup, approximately 6 months old. The friendliest & happiest little poppet, he loves attention and to be with humans. Thankfully appears totally unscathed by his recent ordeal! 💙

We can’t tell you how thankful we are to the wonderful lady who stopped and saved them that evening and all that helped to capture them safely, even if it did take a few hours!
It absolutely breaks our hearts to see their tiny little bodies running in the road, with little Casper (we presume) jumping up the kind ladies leg to be picked up, they must have all been so terrified! 🥹. They all have the most incredible characters and will make the most wonderful companions to their lucky new families. They are all so precious.

We have had quite a few enquiries already, so will be going through them further in the coming days to start the search for our beautiful pooches forever families.

We know many of you have been thinking of these special little ones, THANK YOU to all who have sent their supportive and kind messages.

Stevie
JRT Crossbreed (we would guess collie/kelpie in the mix)
Approx 18 weeks old

Meet Stevie - a little pocket rocket.
Sadly due to a change in circumstances his family weren’t able to keep him but he’s been lucky enough to bag himself a brilliant foster family to take care of him. Here are a few words from them…

Stevie loves to be outside, to play with toys and most of all to be with you. " Chewy" toys are best as he loves to exercise his needle teeth and soft toys don't last long! He has excellent recall and is crate trained. When we are out on short walks, Stevie loves to say hello to every person and dog he meets. Initially he can pull on the lead but this soon diminishes and he loves to investigate and explore. Some work is needed on his spacial awareness!
House training is mainly good but we do have the odd accident particularly in the evening. He sleeps well in his crate all night.
Stevie would love an active family to continue his training and would best suit a household with older children in view of his tendency to chew.

Stevie is loving spending time with his big doggy foster sister so a home with another dog would certainly be beneficial.

What a night!!

Although many love fireworks we see the effect it has on terrified dogs/animals!
One of our team was a total star and went out with a family member late last night to scan the microchip for a dog that had been found, after reporting back with the chip number the registered keeper details were found, no answer on phone numbers so the dog was returned safely to the property.
Immediately after, another post was seen on Facebook for a stray dog so off to scan this dog they went…again this dog was scanned and details were found but no answer on the contact numbers…dog number two was then delivered home safely!
Meanwhile a local police officer called at gone midnight with another stray dog!
Once again, chip details were found and this dog was then reunited with its owner!

Goodness knows how many other dogs/animals have been spooked by fireworks and bolted!
Thankfully all of these dogs had microchips which were up to date so they were quickly reunited with their owners.

Sadly this time of year can be incredibly stressful for some dog/pets and their owners, never mind the wildlife/livestock that must become petrified. Until something can be done to stop the loud fireworks it’s a case of managing our pets and keeping them as comfortable as possible.

We are not contracted to go out and scan or return dogs especially so late at night but we will always do our best to help in any way we can.

Special shout out to our team member for going above and beyond, who finally returned home at nearly 1am this morning. We are so proud of our dedicated little team. 🥰

Roger

We just love to receive videos like this…young Roger was adopted from us just a few months ago as a small puppy, seeing him being provided with such a fantastic stimulating lifestyle and with such potential for a promising future for his sport in agility is wonderful. As you can see he’s loving every single second with his dad, a special bond which is clear to see. *As Roger is still young, he will be introduced to jumping gradually, you will see that the poles are on the ground, once he has finished growing he will be introduced to higher jumps. Well done Roger! 💙

Huwie

Our hearts are about to burst! We all remember gorgeous Huwie? Well here’s a little snippet of his new life… he really has gone from rags to riches! His life is now full of love and happiness, he has freedom to explore the beautiful countryside that he now calls home! Huwie’s new owner is just perfect! They have welcomed Huwie into their life with open arms and sharing their beautiful farm life with our very special boy. What’s best of all is, Huwie has a new brother and best friend who has also welcomed him into their pack and continues to show him the beauty of country life, WILBUR THE PET PIG! 💙 This is what rescue is all about…🥹💙
