Splash in a Dash is a new Canine Hydrotherapy centre, offering a personal and professional service. It is suitable for all dogs (young - old, small - large)

I trained at the world renowned Hawksmoor Hydrotherapy centre, in the Level 3 Certificate in Small Animals Hydrotherapy. Splash in a Dash will only accept patients, after obtaining a signed veterinary referral form. I will only have one patient in the pool at any one time, allowing me to give your dog my undivided attention.

Thankyou for all the customers support over the last 5 years and I will miss the doggies too.

I can recommend various local providers for hydrotherapy depending on where you live, if I haven’t already spoken to about it

Thanks Sarah

Polite reminder please for bank transfers.

Since Covid customers have asked if they can do bank transfers as they didn’t want to handle money which is fine, but it is getting increasingly frustrating as I’m spending nearly everyday chasing people for money.

Payments should be made at the time of grooming/swimming sessions not days later. If it continues this option will be removed Thankyou Sarah

This is Nell a 6 1/2yr old Romanian rescue dog, who has started coming swimming to help build some muscle up in her hind legs. Her left hind leg has luxating patella (slipping kneecap), so at the minute she is on conservative management to try and build the muscles up around the joint to hopefully avoid surgery. She is such a sweet little dog and takes it all in her stride 🙂.

Well today was Franks first show outing at Blackpool show and he did very well indeed bless him 🙂

1st in Beginners Stakes class
1st in Yearling class
4th in Junior class
5th in Post Graduate

He didn’t bat an eyelid and took it all in his stride. He made it through to the beginners final on Sunday and qualified for Crufts next year, with winning his Yearling class 😬

PUPPY SWIM SCHOOL

We had 14 week old Emrys the German Shepherd in today, to learn him to swim. He is so confident already and was straight in bless him 🥰

The puppy swim school is great for all dogs, to get them used to water in a safe and controlled environment. At least Emrys’s owner now knows, he will be ok if he follows his uncle Raven in swimming outside

Finally got chance to swim my own dog Lexi yesterday. She is a 5 year 4 month old German Shepherd who has Hip Dysplasia and has always been very low set in her hind quarters. She loves swimming and it helps to keep her muscles supple and strong too 🙂

This is Alfie a nearly 12 year old Border Terrier, who is coming swimming to help his Arthritis and loosen up his hind legs. His muscles are absolutely solid and he walks with his hind legs out sidewards. This video is on his first session. He has been coming a month now, as well as having weekly physio sessions and already you can see a difference, he seems more happier/full of energy and walking better 🙂

It has been a busy few months here at Splash in a Dash - Canine Hydrotherapy in Kendal, treating all different sizes and breeds.

Flint is a nearly 6 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who just absolutely loves swimming and gets the award for most effort. I have to hold him back a bit to rest, otherwise he would just keep on swimming and swimming lol! He previously had luxating patella surgery on his left hind, but hasn’t had any hydrotherapy for over 12 months since starting here, due to Covid restrictions etc. He has lost some muscle mass on his legs and now his right knee is slipping, so he comes swimming to try and build it back up and hopefully avoid further surgery

HIP DYSPLASIA

I have had a few enquiries recently from clients, whose dogs have been newly diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. It is a really common health problem especially in German Shepherds like my own Lexi below. With her having a really curved lower spine and low back quarters, it is a big disadvantage for her.

With the cold and damp weather over the last couple of weeks, dogs are really struggling. I have had to step up the hydrotherapy and physio exercises this week, as she went lame on her left hind. We are awaiting a referral to the Orthaepaedic Vet hospital to discuss her X-rays from this week. She has only just turned 5, so still a relatively youngish dog.

There are many other things you can do to help your dogs with Hip Dysplasia; heat pads, massage, joint supplements, keeping their weight down, no ball throwing, steady regular exercise on different surfaces i.e not hard tarmac/concrete all the time.

OPEN THROUGHOUT THE COVID LOCKDOWN FOR WELFARE CASES/POST SURGERY CASES ONLY. COVID SECURE

Our Story

Splash in a Dash is a Canine Hydrotherapy centre, offering a personal and professional service. All dogs are swum on a ‘One to One’ basis, giving them the time, patience and undivided attention that they need. It is suitable for all dogs (young - old, small - large). A lot of dogs come to learn how to swim and gain confidence, whilst others come to help existing health problems like Arthritis, Elbow/Hip Dysplasia, Luxating Patellas, Cruciate Ligament, Obesity/Weightloss to name a few common ones. Some dogs just love swimming, so I get a lot coming just for fun!

I set up Splash in a Dash, on the back of my own German Shepherd dog ‘Lexi’, having problems with her back legs. I was advised to maintain her fitness and muscle tone, hence how the swimming came into it. I wanted to learn something new and offer another service, alongside my already successful 12 year dog grooming business. Splash in a Dash will only accept patients, after obtaining a signed veterinary referral form.
