A very busy week with holiday cover and plenty of horses to turnout/ bring in, the wet windy weather hasn't made it easier, definitely prefer working in freezing frosty weather. Got another busy week ahead leading up to the festive period🐴☺️

Star stood perfectly for the farrier today he's only 5 and can get a little tricky with his back feet but he is getting better every visit. He also had a big tractor with a trailer drive past him was a little bit spook by it but then stood calmly and watched the tractor drive past, most young horses would have freaked out by the tractor going past with a noisy trailer. I do love handling the young horses they can be very rewarding and a joy to work with/ handle.☺️🐴

It's been 3 whole years since I made the big decision to leave a competition yard to go freelancing and it was the best decision. I may very rarely get a day off. I may not make a massive amount of money, but over the 3 years, I have learnt so much about myself and gained so much more belief in myself. I use to doubt myself that I wasn't good enough to do what I love and have a passion for, but now I have so much more confidences in myself and to have so many owners who trusts me to look after their babies even the ones who are on medication/ need extra special care, is something that I take pride in doing. I will always give my 110% efforts in giving my clients the service they deserve. A massive thank to my all my clients who use me and trust me with their babies.🥰🐴☺️

Well said 👏 far too many get exracer or young/ any hot headed breed of horse and think it will be easy. It takes a lot of work and a lot of taking steps forward and steps back. People who buy exracer or any young/ hot headed breeds, need to have patience, understanding, boundaries, the knowing of what you have, and be able to give the horse a routine and knowing that they can trust you with their life. We are responsible for the horse and how they live. 🐴

A fun week with horses, and a great weekend spent getting Mr comet ready for a mini photoshoot, all it took was a hot cloth, one white sock washed and a good groom. It's definitely something I take pride in doing, nothing more satisfying than getting a horse all clean and looking amazing, it's the one thing i miss the most doing with blu❤️🥰🤩🐴☺️

🎆SHARE these top tips to help keep horses safe this firework season🎆

The 5th of November can mean stress and worry for the horses in our care.

Follow these suggestions this bonfire night:

1️⃣ Keep your horse in familiar surroundings, a stable is often preferable, but if your horse is used to being kept out then don’t change the routine.

2️⃣ If possible, keep your horse with familiar company. Horses are herd animals and take comfort in each other.

3️⃣ If your horse is nervous use cotton wool plugs in their ears to help reduce noise, or keep the radio on to help counteract any background noise.

4️⃣ Use food as a distraction. Giving the horse extra hay, a lick, or a stable toy can help to keep them occupied.

5️⃣ Never put yourself in danger. Frightened horses can be dangerous so don’t try and go in to calm a frantic horse. If you know that a particular horse gets wound up by fireworks use protective boots to reduce any potential damage.

6️⃣ If your horse is genuinely frightened speak to your vet about sedation options.

7️⃣ Your yard should have a fire policy in place – now is an ideal time to ensure all of your emergency procedures are in place and that your fire extinguishers are serviced. Do not allow anyone to let fireworks off in close proximity to the stables.

8️⃣ Research local displays in your area and ask neighbours to let you know if they are planning on having a display themselves.

Don't forget other animals such as dogs and cats who can get equally as worried by the loud noises.

🚨warning dark nights are coming 🚨

With dark nights coming in a lot of people will struggle to exercise their horses, why not have some help with that?
I can do
Schooling
Hacking
Lunging
Long reining
Ground work
Inhand or ridden polework
Or a bit of jumping

I am fully insured by the wonderful British grooms association and can handle spooky, quirky or one's who can get a little bit strong or give some attitude. I am confident, calm, patient and I don't have my heart racing every time a horse spooks or acts up 🙈

What a busy week/weekend I had, but I loved every minute of it. Might not have been at Blair but behind every competitor or spectators there's always someone behind the scenes looking after the horses at home and I don't mind being that person 🥰 all the horses that I was looking after was all very good.

Miss halle was also very good, first time back on halle after 3 weeks off🥰

Been a busy couple of weeks and it going to be another busy week with Defender Blair Castle International Horse Trials this week, looking after some of the horses whilst their owners go and compete and others cheering them on. Got to love a busy week 🥰
