The bees and wasps are waking up now and puppies/kittens can find them very entertaining at first. Helpful tips to treating but always be aware that if stung around the head arrear a vet visit maybe required. Enjoy the 🌞

Bee & Wasp stings.
If your dog is showing signs of an allergic reaction after being stung you must call your vet immediately.

If there are no signs of an allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock then you can treat at home.

A paste made from bicarbonate of soda and water can be applied to bee sting areas.
You can use vinegar mixed with water to bathe wasp sting areas.

This is very worrying. I have used AVA for my Furbabies when pets at home were having a special offer a while ago. The deal was that if the cat didn't like it then you could return the remainder for a full refund. Please stop feeding and return.

Please make sure to run your garden hose for a few minutes before using it for your pets. 💧

The fire brigade have warned that when garden hoses are exposed to direct sunlight, the water inside can heat to between 130 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit which can seriously burn both children and animals.

Take care on rambles with your Furbabies around water.🐕

Do you recognise this?

It's blue-green algae, also known as cyanobacteria, and it's typically found in freshwater lakes, ponds and slow-moving rivers. It blooms on the surface and is highly toxic to dogs, commonly causing vomiting, diarrhoea, seizures and breathing difficulties.

It can even lead to liver damage and death — and our vets see a big spike in cases at this time of year.

If you're worried your dog has been exposed to blue-green algae, call us straight away.

Do NOT have lillies in your home or gardens. Having lost a one year old furbaby to this poisoning following two weeks of vet treatment please do not have lillies of any sort in cat spaces. Even removing the stamens does not make them safe. The whole of the plant of several varieties are lethal. If the water is drunk, the petals or leaves chewed it can be deadly. Dogs can also become sick if they injest parts of the lily.

Sadly here I am again. Third fatal lily toxicity in just 6 weeks... that’s just little old me, one vet in one practice. Imagine how common this really is?!

I teach you all about lily toxicity in my new feline health, well-being and first-aid course. The difference between true lilies and not true lilies.

But here’s the thing, drinking water from the vase and getting pollen on the coat can be extremely toxic for cats. If not treated within 24 hours, the kidney damage that occurs often ends up being fatal. Please I urge you to take this on board as it is a devastating situation.
