🩷Pictures like this are so great to us as therapists in rehabilitation especially hydrotherapy because we never get to see your dogs in their natural environment just living their best lives!

It’s so rewarding seeing the work that’s put in and how that displays in the outside world!

This absolute beauty is Lexi, she has been seeing us regularly for over 2 years to maintain her quality of life as she gets older, dealing with all the quirks that comes with it including, osteoarthritis and general stiffness but besides that absolutely dominating recovery from a stroke..

🏖️ This is her thriving at 14years old on the beaches of France.

A patient’s verbal report of pain is the single reliable indicator of pain (Yildirim et al., 2015).

Human healthcare KNOWS we are reliant on verbal description for true understanding of another person’s pain.

Dogs cannot speak to us to let us know when they are in pain, so its up to us to understand the signs and behaviour changes they show us instead.

We are the our dog's voices - let's advocate for them as much as we can!

The Met Office has issued a yellow heat health alert for England starting today.
Unlike us, dogs do not have sweat glands to help them stay cool. Instead, they control their body temperature via mainly panting – rapid, shallow breathing which increases the evaporation of water from the airways and nose cavity. More effort goes into panting than normal breathing, and this generates further heat.

Although overheating can be a potential problem for all dogs, regardless of their breed and conformation, brachycephalic dogs are particularly susceptible to heat stress. This is because dogs with upper airway obstruction have compromised movement of air into and out of the lungs and even more effort is required to open the airway. As a consequence, the additional heat load cannot be dissipated effectively.

Therefore, we recommend the following for all dogs and especially BOAS dogs:
🌅 Walk early or after dusk, keep it short
🏠 Avoid hot spots indoors
💧 Keep them hydrated
🧊 Use cooling jackets/mats or a paddling pool

🌼 Daisy has been seeing us as part of a multimodal approach to her rehabilitation journey, following cruciate surgery..

Making the most of both Hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, vets and her owner’s commitment she is absolutely smashing recovery.
She is building back her strength and any muscle wastage as well as her confidence in using her legs fully again in daily life ! 💕

We realise how lucky we are to be able to work where we do, with the incredible dogs and owners we get to meet and help on a daily basis, it is absolutely not lost on us that everyday is a bit of a dream !

Even through the chaos and the crazy long days and the heartbreak, we couldn’t be prouder with our little team and the work everyone puts in !

Ace comes to his swims completely focused!No time for messing around, this gentle soul has been coming to us for around 4years to manage Arthritis and stiff joints, he’s taught us the true meaning of side eye and talking without saying a word 😂

🥳Merry Christmas from all of us at HydroFido, we are so pleased to announce we raised £300 for Dogs on the streets!🐾💕

We recieved £50 on donations with our collaboration with Meadow View Dog Paddock & Training and their handmade crochet snowflakes for their snowflake tree where each one represents a meal for a dog.

🎄Thank you each and everyone for your on going support and allowing us the privilege to help on your dogs rehabilitation journey or just for the fun and fitness in the pool ☺️

We want to celebrate Christmas and the New Year whilst remembering and recognising those that may not be following us into 2024 and our hearts go to the families that will be missing their companions at this time 💕
