Quick video showing how you can save a matted ear from looking like it’s been nibbled by goats!
If you manage the expectations of you client this can turn in a win situation - the client was aware the ear was matted and was advised it would need to be shaved short. Using phrases like ‘I’ll see what I can do’ or ‘I’ll save what I can’ gives the client an elevated expectation, if you then can’t save it and do need to shave it can become a nightmare of either trying to contact owners for permission to shave or handing the dog back and the client being shocked at a bald ear.
Giving them the worse case scenario gives them a clear picture of what to expect so it’s not a surprise - and if you can save a bit of hair then they will appreciate it.
Happy dog, happy owner, happy groomer 💪🏻🥰
Pic of Millie after in the comments and you can hardly see any shaved areas
