I am a Sporty Paws Certified Bikejor Instructor covering Ripon and Surrounding Areas. My name is Jo and I’m Sporty Paws certified Biikejor instructor based in Ripon North Yorkshire, and covering the surrounding area. I’m the owner of Active Paws Yorkshire which I have set up so that I can offer bikejor intros and build a supportive and inclusive bikejor community. I started my journey in cani-spor
ts 5 year ago with my Romanian Rescue girl Maya as a way to focus her energy, keep fit and build our bond. I already enjoyed mountain biking and tried bikejor as a way for Maya to safely join me and my family on the trails, and I was quickly hooked. At the start of the pandemic we took on a number of virtual canicross challenges and ran anything up to half marathon distance. I also introduced Willow to the joys of bikejor. I love getting out on the bike in our local forests and I’m looking forward to sharing our passion and getting people and their dogs safely started on their own journey. Being the owner of a sensitive sighthound myself, I am conscious of the impact of particular environments and conditions on the comfort levels, motivation and drive of more sensitive dogs and am constantly looking at new settings to suit dogs with a range of needs. As well as being a Sporty Paws Bikejor Instructor I’m also a Certified Canicross Instructor and I’m currently Studying to become a Clinical Canine Massage Therapist with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre. I aim to add this service to Active Paws Yorkshire once qualified. I attend regular workshops to broaden my knowledge of dogs and dog sport. Qualified Level 3 OFQUAL Canine First Aid
