Huge shout out to the fantastic North Paws Rehabilitation Referrals and the power of K laser for helping dramatically speed up recovery for my puppy Scout after she cut her leg on barbed wire. I knew the theory of the benefits of class 4 laser but to see it in action has been amazing ❤️

Most joint health focused diets have omega 3
FAs at varying dosing ranging from 0.59 to 10.11 g/1,000 kcal,
with many brands being under 3.5 g/1,000 kcal (40).

It is imperative to identify the actual eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) concentrations in the food, as not uncommonly alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is used in foods for its omega 3 FA content.

ALA is not an adequate substitute and food should quantify actual levels of DHA and EPA.

In most cases, additional DHA/EPA supplementation is required to reach the scientifically recommended minimum dose of 100 mg/kg daily DHA/EPA (32). Mosley et al 2022

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2004.
After 2 years in mixed practice I moved to work exclusively
with companion animals in 2006. I completed my foundation
course in acupuncture with the ABVA in 2009 and have been
treating patients ever since. In 2014 I gained my certificate in
Western Veterinary Acupuncture and Chronic Pain
Management and I’m currently working towards a certificate in
Canine Rehabilitation (CCRP). In 2023 I completed a foundation course in Western Veterinary Herbal medicine and I'm completing the WSAVA Cert in Pain Management.

I have a passion for improving the quality of life of my patients
and their owners, and through my western training I use a
multi-modal approach to pain management. I can see cases for
an overall assessment of analgesia (pain) and rehabilitation
requirements which may include, exercise and environmental
modifications, assessment of current medication and whether
further investigation may be required. I will also discuss
acupuncture and advise on other treatments such as laser,
physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, supplements/herbs and
regenerative medicine (STEM cells and PRP).

I am also happy to see cases purely for acupuncture which can
be safely used alongside conventional medications to treat
both acute and chronic pain as well as conditions like anxiety,
idiopathic cystitis and IBD.
An initial assessment lasts around 60 minutes and includes a
physical exam, in-depth history review, discussion to establish
expectations and explain likely outcomes, medication review
and the animals first acupuncture session if appropriate. A
written report will be emailed to your vet and yourself and
follow up appointments arranged. I will need to request a full
history from your primary vet before your appointment.

Patients can be seen at North Paws Rehab Centre, Rainton or I can arrange a home visit.
