Chunk is looking for her forever home now too 🙂 she is happy being handled but will make herself very flat to start with due to nervs but quickly gains confidence - she’s been enjoying being in a properly sized cage and burrowing for the first time since coming into rescue 🙂 could you give her a loving home?

The lovely Belle is now on the search for her forever home ❤️
She is a winter white dwarf who was being given away in a group of 4 for free online in small decorative cages and small storage boxes. She is very friendly and happy being handled - she will need a large cage (around 80x50cm or larger) with deep bedding to burrow and lots of toys to encourage her to come out of her shell 🙂 pm us if you are interested in adopting ❤️

Lets talk set ups and care myths! 🥳
Did you know that lots of products that are marketed for hamsters can in fact be very harmful to them, including some cages, wheels, bedding types and balls..?🐹

*Cages:*
Most cages sold in pet stores are far too small, the STS (Swiss society for the protection of animals) demands a cage size of 5,000sq cm. Hamsters need lots of space to run and play, deep bedding to burrow in and space to express their natural behaviours.
(Most UK rescues including us as a minimum 50x80cm)

*Fluffy bedding:*
“cotton wool or similar 'fluffy' bedding products pose a serious risk to their health and welfare, due to the possibility of entanglement or ingestion.” - RSPCA

*Wheels:*
Wheels with ladder rungs or holes in often lead to hamsters getting limbs stuck and even pulled off!
Too small wheels (Syrians need 28cm wheels) can lead to bent backs and lack of exercise leading to stress.

*Balls:*
Hamsters rely heavily on scent to understand their environment which is cut off when put inside a plastic ball, as well as needing places to hide - they are very exposed in a ball and this causes stress as well as being forced to go to the toilet in there which is very unnatural to them as they are very clean animals.

Its so difficult with pet stores promoting this as safe when they are proven not to be, please always do a bit of extra research to ensure your animal companions safety ❤️

aprox 6month old female Syrian hamster, Chloe, came into rescue recently, she is a very gentle and cautious creature. she needs to put on a little weight and gain confidence in her new environment with space and toys. has really taken to this gravy pot :'D
should be ready to find her forever home in January 2020 :)
very friendly and loves being handled
