One size doesn't fit all
Group classes can be great for puppies, adolescents and adult dogs.
But not for all of them.
Many of my clients are owners who either wouldn't feel comfortable in a group or whose dogs were asked to leave.
I offer one to one training in a dog's own home and out and about in the areas walk them or want to visit.
So if you're looking for tailored training or a bespoke behaviour service, please get in touch.

Over 15 years experience working with thousands of dogs and their owners. Covering Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

Temperatures are due to hit the mid-twenties over the next few days, please take all the usual precautions; avoid walking in the heat of mid-day, bring water on walks, provide plenty of shade, don't leave your dogs in the car even briefly, use cooling mats or damp towels at home, give frozen treats (if they're on kibble you can soak and freeze it, which will help cool and keep them hydrated), etc. Be particularly cautious with brachycephalic (flat-faced), those with existing health conditions, and elderly or very young dogs.

We were incredibly proud and honoured that the late Paul O’Grady chose to be an ambassador for StreetVet, he was a true champion of the work we do.

A big thank you goes to our friends at Battersea and Paul's family today for honouring StreetVet with a donation of £20,000 from the money raised in his memory. This generous donation will help StreetVet continue to provide free veterinary care and services to the pets of those experiencing homelessness during challenging times when the demand for our services is increasing every day.

Jade Statt, Co-Founder & Clinical Director at StreetVet said
‘Our partnership with Battersea began in 2018 and it was through this collaboration that we first appeared on an episode of Paul O’Grady: For The Love of Dogs and that was where our charity ambassador relationship with Paul began. To say he was wonderful with our StreetVet clients and their pets would be an understatement, Paul immediately put everyone he met at ease with his warmth, humour and humility. To be in receipt of such an incredible donation in his memory is a true privilege and we promise to continue the work that Paul so wonderfully championed.’

Today it happened.

There are certain commands that I encourage all clients to teach their dogs.

"Drop" is one of them.

Some people say, "oh, I can take anything out of her mouth", to which I explain that there are certain things a dog may pick up, that you really wouldn't want to handle. But I rarely get to see those events.

On a walk with Nala and her owner earlier, she picked something up. We couldn't see what it was but, having tought it and practiced it regularly, her owner reflexively gave her the drop command. She spat out a dead mouse and walked away from it to get her reward.

I was so chuffed to see how well practiced they both were.

There was no struggling to get something off her, no repetition, no shouting, just a really calm command and an immediate response.

And this from a 9 month old excitable bull breed, whose owner rescued her at her 6 months old and has put loads of effort into training her.

So proud of the pair of them.

I woke to the news of Paul O'Grady's passing this morning and was very sad to hear it.
I met him and worked with him several times while I was at Battersea.
I'd often get asked what he was like in real life and I always said, "Exactly as he appears on tv. Just a lot more sweary when the cameras aren't rolling."
He was warm and friendly with anyone and everyone and truly loved the dogs.
He did loads for Battersea, for rescue animals and for animal welfare in general.
And he lived life as he wished. What other foul-mouthed drag queen do you know who shed the wigs and the makeup, became a beloved broadcaster in their own right, established themselves as a national treasure and got on friendly terms with royalty?
All while doing what he loved to do.
He was authentically, uniquely, and unapologetically himself.
Rest in peace POG
