As temperatures rise, so does the risk of flystrike for our fluffy companions. Flystrike, a potentially
fatal condition, occurs when flies lay eggs on a rabbit's fur, which then hatch into maggots and feed on their flesh.
Keep a close eye on your rabbit's hygiene and living environment, especially during warmer months.
🔍 Regularly check for any signs of soiled fur, wounds, or unusual behaviour. Prevention is key: ensure your rabbit's living space is clean and dry, and consider using flystrike prevention methods recommended by your vet.
🚨If you suspect flystrike, seek veterinary assistance immediately. Early detection and treatment are crucial for the well-being of your furry friend. Let's keep our rabbits safe and flystrike-free this summer!

Over the next few months, we’re raising awareness of skin disease – a really common problem in cats and dogs!
Did you know... Skin problems are one of the most common reasons owners take their pet to the vet.
Abnormalities such as excessive scratching, redness, inflammation, hair loss and lumps and bumps could be a sign of a wide range of skin conditions, from allergies, fleas and ticks to infections.
If you notice any of these symptoms on your pet, you should contact your vet to ensure they get the treatment they need. Not only might the condition be causing them pain or discomfort, but mild skin problems can become more severe if left untreated.

With Easter around the corner, chocolate treats become more prevalent. While delicious for us, chocolate can be extremely harmful to our pets. Even small amounts of chocolate can be toxic to cats and dogs, causing various health issues, ranging from vomiting and diarrhoea to more severe complications.
We urge all pet owners to keep chocolate and other sweets out of reach from curious paws. If you suspect your pet has ingested chocolate, contact us or vets now (out of hours) immediately.
Swift action can make all the difference.

Albie started his easter celebrations early with 3 hot cross buns. Although Albie enjoyed them at the time, raisins and sultanas are very toxic to dogs so he was rushed to the vets and fortunately the team were on stand by to induce vomiting before any toxicity could occur.
Albie is feeling abit sorry for himself but he is no longer in any danger.

Why do cats knead❔ Kittens knead their mother's stomach to stimulate milk flow. If your cat kneads your lap during cuddles, it may indicate their connection from the secure bond with their mother to the bond they share with you. And the more they knead, the more they love you! 💗
Sometimes they drive our patience, but we always love our goofballs. #feelgoodfeeling

To exotic or not to exotic, that is the question… 🐢 🦎 🐍 🐦 . . Vet nurses are ready to care for all pets, no matter how many legs they have! #vetnurse #vnam #vnam2023 #EmpowerOurVNs #vetlife
Registered veterinary nurses and student veterinary nurses are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. They are regulated by them in terms of their conduct and keeping up to date with training. The term veterinary nurse is a contentious conversation in the vet world as anyone can use this term, even if not qualified or registered. Efforts have been made to change this, and we fully support this; our nursing team deserves to have their title protected and for pet owners to know your vet nurse is fully qualified to look after your beloved pet. Registered vet nurses RVN and registered student nurses RSVN are always qualified and trained. #vetnurse #vnam #vnam2023 #EmpowerOurVNs #vetlife
