The two self-catering cottages, Rose Cottage and Jasmine Cottage, are situated in the grounds of a Grade II listed thatched cottage dating from the 15th century, in the pretty hamlet of Newton, just outside the market town of Sturminster Newton. The cottages are surrounded by an acre of meadow and gardens, overlooking the River Stour and Newton Mill. The single-storey cottages are converted outbui
ldings, re-clad in the original elm to retain their original character. They have been graded 4-star by Welcome Cottages (a grading scheme equivalent to and recognised by Visit England). Each cottage comprises:
· Kitchen/diner/lounge
· Main bedroom with one super king-size bed (6 ft wide). The bed can be split to make two single (3 ft wide) beds
· Second bedroom with one single bed (3 ft wide)
· Bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin
The cottages are well-equipped, including electric hob and oven, fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster; TV with freeview, DVD player, radio/CD player; electric heating. Cot available on request.
· Linen and towels provided.
· Electricity included.
· Washing machine available.
· Well-behaved pets welcome.
· No smoking in the cottages. Accessibility: the cottages are single-storey, with level floors throughout. There are two steps to the front door, for which ramps are available. There is ample parking outside the cottages on a flat paved driveway. There is a step up into and a step down out of the shower cubicle, which can be difficult for people with limited mobility (see photo of bathroom on our website).
