This stunning beauty KNOWS she looks good in her new harness! Dad was so happy with it, he couldn’t stop looking at her and smiling. As you can see, she couldn’t be more proud of herself. 🤗

*Here’s something to think about… written by dog trainer Rebecca Hanlon…*

When a toddler keeps grabbing our favourite ornament we put it on a higher shelf.

When we have a baby crawling around we keep bleach out of low cupboards or put locks on the door.

When dogs chew peoples things or eat out of the bin, they are often told off and the ornament and bin stay in the same place so they can just get told off all over again.

When a child cries we comfort them, we may give them an ice cream so they dont find the thunderstorm so scary.

When a dog barks out of fear they often have their lead yanked and are shouted at. If we give them food we are told we are rewarding for bad behaviour. If they cry they are often ignored.

Humans make mistakes on a regular basis and tell themselves it's ok, mistakes happen.

If dogs make mistakes they are often called stupid, bad, naughty.

Humans never behave appropriately and politely 100% of the time.

Dogs are, on the whole, way more polite than people but often get shouted at for not behaving more human.

Humans struggle to change behaviours of their own that they dont like and spend most of there lives seeking ways to manage their emotions and change how they act.

Dogs as a species have way less behaviour issues than humans but dogs are expected to change their behaviour in 1 session with a trainer.

Humans are one of the most aggressive animals on the planet. They manipulate each other, abuse each other and physically hurt each other regularly.

Dogs are way less aggressive than people as a species. You are way more likely to get hurt or killed by another human. Infact it is more likely that a child will get killed by thier own parents than a dog. And yet we muzzle dogs just for the way they look.

No, dogs are not humans and shouldnt be treated as such. But they do feel happiness, sadness, fear, excitement, love, pain. They do think and have a sense of self.

New laws are being looked at in spain to try and change the way we see animals. Spain is often seen to be behind the times in the way they think of animals and sentience. And I agree, these laws are essential in starting to change the way people think.

But I see puppy farms and dogs with awful health issues being bred for the sole purpose of money. I see dogs seen as accessories more than thinking feeling members of the family. I see people putting their material objects way higher up on the list than their dogs welfare. I see people putting hugely high expectations on their dogs and still using punishment to 'teach' them. It is not just one country that needs to reassess the way they look at dogs.

We choose to have dogs in our lives. They do not choose to have us. Relationships are not made in Disney land. They can be hard, frustrating, emotional, and require compromise and sacrifice. But dogs deserve more from the human race than they are being given. They need us to see them as they really are and not how the human ego shapes them.

Took my two girls to the vet this evening as both were showing symptoms of having this bug/virus. They are OK and should recover just fine, but this definitely seems to be something that is spreading quickly and can make dogs very sick, very quickly.

Any dog owners - there’s a bad virus going round at the moment, reading about it non stop. Vets are putting out advice as it’s spreading really fast and they’re seeing an advanced amount of admissions.

Try stay away from parks, don’t let your dog drink outside water, puddles etc and not to sniff 💩. And clean your dogs paws after every walk in case they’ve walked in the virus then catch it when cleaning themselves 🥺

Vets are reporting higher than usual occurrences of gastroenteritis in dogs which is fitting with a wider phenomenon as reported by The Small Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network (SAVSNET). So far we have found that the cases seen- whilst clearly being poorly- have responded well to treatment.
The British Veterinary Association (BVA) advise that with prompt veterinary treatment almost all dogs make a full recovery from this uncommonly violent gastric bug.

How Is This Vomiting Bug Different?
According to Vet Dr Danielle Greenberg of SAVSNET, this vomiting bug is unusual due to:

Prolific vomiting of 5 or more episodes in a 12 hour period which can stop for a period (such as overnight) and then starts again
Dogs are often unable to keep water down at peak vomiting stage
Anorexia and lethargy for 2-5 days
Diarrhoea: Most dogs have ‘gravy-like’ diarrhoea
Full recovery can take 5-10 days

What We Know So Far:
This outbreak is affecting areas across the Midlands, Wales, the North of England and Northern Ireland
The illness is most likely a virus but has not yet been identified.
Seems to be dog-specific, thankfully humans don’t appear to be at risk.
This is not caused by Parvo or Salmonella

UPDATE UPDATE! In what has been an unbelievable effort from our amazing community rallying like I’ve never seen or been apart of before, BUSTER HAS BEEN FOUND (safe and sound) and is back with his family!! 🎉 And I can’t give this update without acknowledging the people of our community! We were apart of a “Find Buster” WhatsApp chain that was 90 people strong, and every single person, pitched in to help. From people sharing just a bit of info about a sighting, or someone volunteering to print and post hundreds of flyers, to people coordinating a full-on drone launch! There were people putting maps together of his possible whereabouts and logging the sightings to keep info as up to date as possible. Those that were social media savvy used twitter, Insta, fb… etc. to get links, pages and images out to thousands of people as quickly as possible. There were several people that cancelled all of their work meetings yesterday and went out searching for him from atleast 10am to 10pm. Messages with information were STILL being sent, by the minute, all through the night. One person after another, jumping in at a chance to help out, if they could. It was an EPIC scale of community togetherness! And I think I can speak for everyone on that WhatsApp chain when I say the video posted of the owner, thanking everyone, with Buster in her arms, was a moment of tears for all of us! As a huge dog lover, I couldn’t be more proud to be apart of this community. A place of the world where everyone truly believes that dogs are our family, and will stop at nothing to make sure the dogs of our community stay that way! You ROCK Richmond Borough!

All. Please can you help get the word out online and share this page to as many people and places that you can. We saw Buster bolting down Church Street on the 14th around 10:30/11:00am. We left the shop with a lead and some treats in hopes of being able to catch him, but after speaking with others that also saw him running, he was very scared and acting skittish. This Beautiful Boy, is Barley! And today is his 1st Birthday! He kicked the day off with a groom to show off his stunning reddish, curly, shiny coat! You know, so he could be picture ready for all of those photos! He finished his morning pamper, with this little photoshoot, complete with one of our “It’s My Birthday!” Bandanas! We were told his next stop was to celebrate at home, where a doggie cake awaits him! Not too shabby!! Happy Birthday, Barley! You were born to shine! 🥳🥳🥳

And despite being less than a year old, Ruby is an absolute pro on the grooming table. This is her “it’s exhausting being so beautiful,” pose. Yes, Ruby... it certainly is.
