This will be reviewed at a later date and will reflect the countries current economic status.

❗️ Cost of living crisis ❗️

Due to the cost of living crisis we will be reducing the amount of kennels we will be using from 1st October 2022, to keep the cost of heating down through the autumn/winter months.

This means we will only be using one side of the building, depending on how many bookings at any one time, we will either use the side with 13 kennels or the side with 5 kennels.

This will not include October half term, as the bookings for this period continue to increase.

OPENING & CLOSING DATES.

Dear customers,

Since we're now receiving a high number of bookings for October onwards, I thought I would quickly let you all know of a few closed dates we have.

NOVEMBER - We will be closed for 1 week for some much needed rest and maintenance, we will be closed from 7th November and will reopen on 14th November.

CHRISTMAS - As always, we will be closed to customers on Christmas eve, Christmas day and Boxing day. If you wish to have your dog boarding with us over the Christmas period, including those three dates, then these are our opening times -

Business as usual leading up to Christmas.
23rd December - 10.00 - 16.00
24th Decmeber - closed to customers
25th December - closed to customers
26th December - closed to customers
27th December - 12.00 - 18.00

If you would like your pets boarding with us, the must be dropped off by 16.00 on 23rd, and the earliest collection will be 12.00 on 27th.

❗️ ANNOUNCEMENT ❗️- EDIT - I have just been told off by another kennel owner from down country for calling it 'kennel cough' 🤦‍♀️ the infection is now called CANINE COUGH as it has nothing to do with kennels, and rightly so.

Right now, a number of kennel owners are reporting cases from different parts of the country, and so I thought I'd write up a quick post regarding 'kennel' cough in boarding kennels.

1. It only takes one customer with unknown kennel cough to infect an entire building. Please be kind with the bad stigma surrounding kennel cough, it may just be your pet that brings it to our facility unknowingly.

2. Our policy and procedures include an intensive clean, including disinfecting if there is an outbreak in our facility.

3. Kennel cough isn't usually serious and mostly goes away on its own. It can however sometimes need help with antibiotics, especially for elderly dogs, puppy's or those with preexisting health conditions.

4. THE RISK IS EVERYWHERE, please don't think that a dog will only get kennel cough because they've been in kennels. Dogs can pick up kennel cough from popular walking routes, or basically anywhere another dog with kennel cough has walked, which is how kennels come to contract it in the first place, I cannot stress that enough.

PLEASE - Notify us as soon as possible if you're due for a booking and your dog shows signs of kennel cough. Bringing your dog to our kennels with kennel cough can massively impact our business, whether it is cancelling bookings and ruining other people's holidays, or another pet owner having a poorly dog.

WE have only ever had one outbreak of kennel cough in our kennels in the 7 years we have been open. The outbreak lasted less than TWO weeks due to our intensive care procedures. We aim to keep risk to illness and wellbeing as low as possible so we can continue to operate our business the best way possible, we expect our customers to do the same.

FINALLY - please get in touch if your pets show any signs of having kennel cough after being in our kennels, the faster we can act, the less impact it will have on other customers and the business. I.E - fast action may = not having to close the business for cleaning, customers not loosing their bookings, and my family will continue to be provided for.

🐕 MEET ULF 🐕

Ulf is quite a nervous dog who takes time to be able to trust you before being your friend 🐶 And that wasn't any different when his owners began using our kennels.

He's a sweet boy with a lot of love to give, and after lots of time spent getting to know one another, he really came out of his shell and began to enjoy his time staying in our kennels.

We haven't seen Ulf for a little while, but recently he came for an overnight stay and I was worried we'd have to start all over again. But he didn't forget us, he knew where he was and who he was with and greeted us both with his big personality and we had lots of fun all over again.

We see a huge amount of different characters and personalities here, and they're all welcome!

❗️NOW ENDED ❗️Due to busy season coming and continuous customers dropping off and collecting, viewings are now back to APPOINTNENT ONLY - thank you :)

🐶 VIEWINGS 🐶

Due to a large amount of kennel viewing appointments, we have decided to change things up a bit.

Myself (Lisa), will be running drop in viewings through our staff lunch hour through week days 1pm-2pm.

We invite you to pop along and view our kennels during those times Monday- Thursday.

Please note that I will be on my own during this time as other members of staff will be on lunch break, so there may be a short wait time between viewings.

No appointment necessary, just pop along 😁

Friday & weekend viewings will still need to be via appointment, but will be limited.

Good morning 😁
Both me & Jonny are now testing NEGATIVE for Covid-19, although we're not 100%, we're much better than last week, so we're back in the kennels working away, just in time for busy season!

That being said... please make sure to book your kennel as far in advance as possible. After the two year pandemic, kennels closures and new pet owners, we are receiving a high number of bookings & the last thing we enjoy doing is turning people away.

We are FULLY booked from NOW until 5th June, with the rest of June, July and August filling up fast!

Julie Isherwood - Pine Lodge Kennels.
Wrote a little poem late last night whilst up monitoring doggies and answering queries. Think most can relate to this. Happy Easter everyone 🐣

❤️ For the love of dog’s my mantra
I say this every day
I say it to remind me of the role I chose to play
For this role it can be lonely
Working 7 days a week
No social life or family time unless it’s on a break 😝
We care for other peoples pets as if they were our own
Whilst they’re basking in the sunshine, we are left at home.

We cook (yes cook)and clean and run around, we play and cuddle too
We cater for their every whim and even pickup poo
We medicate, we keep them warm with bedtime treats and cuddles
We bath and clean them before they go from all the muddy puddles

Some often say I’d love your job, playing with dogs all day
If you’re willing to give your time up, Then have a go I say ⏰

You’ll need your hat and gloves, a big coat and wellies too
This is the usual attire for everything we
do
We stand out in wind, rain and storms, that’s the norm
Well it is if you live up north❄️☔️ 💨

But that’s not all
We start so early and finish late
There’s always much to do

Just when you think the job is done and off home you trot
There’s admin, phone calls and updates, but no that’s not the lot

This work is never ending it’s full time care you see
Its often forgotten , what actually goes on behind the scenes

But yes this roles rewarding
To love and care for dogs
The joy they bring to all our lives whilst you’re on your holibobs ☀️

We send them home happy and hope for their return
So once again we greet them each and every year.
For the love of dog’s my mantra
Let playtime begin again ❤️🐶🐶❤️

LOST DOG - OWNER FOUND 😁

A lost dog has been handed to us this afternoon, wondering around with no collar on the road next to us, Neather row, Caldbeck. The dog is safe in our kennels currently and is super friendly 😊

If you have lost a dog, or seen a lost dog post, please get in touch! I won't be posting pictures or a description of the dog due to safety reasons.

If the Covid-19 pandemic wasn't hard enough for our small business to survive, the current increase on bills & products are sure to test us to.

I write this announcement with the hopes you will understand why we have to implement a price increase, as you'll see others in the industry, and in other industries doing the same.

Happen you look around, you will notice that our prices remain competitive, meaning you can book with us having the peace of mind that quality of care for your four legged family members is and always will be our number one priority.

The price increase will be effective on April 5th 2022. Any bookings that have already been made for passed that date, will be honoured at the original price. Any bookings going forward will be calculated at the new rate.
