Even Spark couldn’t believe the amount of hair that came off of her! Even the best looking coats need regular maintenance and professional TLC.

In 12 years of grooming Spark is the very first Miniature American Shepherd Dog I have ever met, and I have to say I am absolutely sold on them! At just seven months old she is so switched on, confident, alert, loving, intelligent, inquisitive….truly a lovely lovely breed.

I’m already looking forward to seeing you again, gorgeous girl! 💕💕

It was her very first visit to The Dog House today, and although she was a bit of a shy girl to begin with, she did absolutely brilliantly and gave me the most incredible cuddles at the end of her groom! That felt very special. 🥰 I’m sure that with each visit Moo’s confidence will grow and grow. 💜💜💜

Moo is a lurcher, but her Mum loves a little bit of Bedlington chic, so hopefully by her next groom her ears tassels and bouffant will be coming along nicely. Watch this space! 💅🏼

Basil has been suffering on and off for quite some time with what we thought was a pulled muscle.

About a month ago I began to realise that it was more than that and that there was something going on with his lower vertebrae. I booked an appointment with my vet and asked for a referral to the Orthopaedic specialist, Dr Hannes Bergman. Basil took a turn for the worst at the weekend, and so Hannes bought his appointment forward to Tuesday this week where a CT scan revealed a severely herniated disc. It was so acute that he couldn’t believe the level of pain Basil had been hiding and also that he hadn’t shown any neurological damage.

He was operated on yesterday and came home this afternoon. It felt like a LONG time! The operation was a total success and he was up and walking immediately afterwards, and is already showing enormous improvement. It’s going to be a long road to full recovery, but it will be a full recovery, which is just incredible!

He is currently confined to barracks for two weeks, which means crated and only allowed out for the toilet on a lead, so he will be feeling very sorry for himself!

I am so so grateful for the amazing care Basil has received at the Oxford Veterinary Specialists, they have shown so much love, compassion, and understanding for not only Basil, but for us as well. It has been such a difficult time for us all, and I’m just so glad we have our boy back and on the mend. ❤️❤️❤️

As you can imagine, I was in absolute heaven with these two beautiful Blenheim Cavaliers! It was their very first time at The Dog House, and their Mum wanted them kept completely untrimmed (except their pads), which is how Cavaliers actually appear in the show ring. It was SUCH a treat for me to do this.

I can’t tell you what a happy and amenable breed Cavvies are, they really are just the most exceptional little beans. ❤️❤️❤️

Since this is the first wave of heat we’ve had this year, be mindful of what time of day you take your dogs out for a walk, it’s a dramatic increase in temperature and I’m sure it will catch a lot of people out.

It was lovely having Mabel visit the salon this morning, as she often does when I have the door open to the sunshine and fresh air. She loves to just sit on the side and watch, and just be close to me.

This girl is nearly 16, which is just incredible! She is the most loving cat dog there ever was. 🩶

Beautiful ladies, Loxy Dachshund and Mabel Cockapoo, were both in for their regular full grooms today. Monty Cavalier and Daisy Cavachon each had a wash and blowdry, which they come for between their normal full grooms to keep their coats in perfect condition and smelling gorgeous. ❤️

🐩⭐️ HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY BASIL! ⭐️🐩

It’s hard to believe twelve years have passed since I welcomed Basil into the world one Easter Day in the middle of Easter lunch! He has continued to cause chaos and disruption ever since, but we wouldn’t have him any other way!

He has begun to slow down these last few months, and it has made me realise that despite still looking and behaving like a silly adolescent, he is indeed a precious old boy now.

I’ve never known such a characterful and intelligent boy, and we’re lucky to share our lives with him. Happy Birthday Baz! 🎈

What a totally beauty is this guy? Jack was very much in need of a BIG groom. We clipped out all his matts from those tricky areas (armpits, behind ears, crotch), removed all his feather (he likes to be a mucky boy!), and gave him a massive strip out of dead coat in his jacket. You can see his perfect little white chest dot now too! 🤍

He will be feeling much more comfortable now, and ready for his next dip in a mucky pond! 😂
