Thank you everyone for being so understanding today. All current affected clients have been contacted.

Running a business alone can be challenging at the best of times, 99% of you have been beyond kind and so understanding to the changes this year.
It’s really made the world of a difference. I just wanted to take time to acknowledge and thank you all for that. Not every small business can say they have the BEST clients ♥️

Unfortunately I have to close for most of September due to a surgery. It’s the last thing I want but it’s necessary.
The most frustrating thing is I have no idea on the recovery time and I won’t know until after the surgery.
Best case scenario 2 weeks but with a physical job /working alone it could be 4-6 weeks.

In the worst case scenario (taking more than 4 weeks off) I have a wonderful groomer who I trust on stand-by who is more than happy to accommodate you in the case your dog can’t go the extra few weeks without a groom.
We will hope it won’t come to that but I don’t want anyone to feel in the dark, you will be looked after.

Anyone due an appointment but hadn’t pre-booked in advance will need to wait until 1st week in October. I was already fully booked up until last week in September regardless so this honestly won’t make much of a difference in that case.

Every morning this week- Monday, Tuesday and today, the morning client has late cancelled or no showed. All genuine clients who were either sick or just messed up the appointment.
Regardless of what happens I still need to pay rent and bills. Without policies I would be down €200 and we’re not even half way through the week. Here’s a reminder of our policies.

I’m extremely busy this time of year, people are begging for sooner appointments.
Please put a reminder in your calendar, double check you’ve the right times and put a note on your fridge if you need an extra reminder.

PLEASE READ- NEW POLICIES
New policies regarding late cancellations/drop offs/pickups and no shows

CANCELATIONS AND NO SHOW
*Failure to give more than 48hours notice when cancelling may result in a late cancellation fee. This is because a 2 hour slot is reserved to you and may not be refilled in short notice.
*Failure to cancel and not show up for an appointment will result in a €40+ no show fee.
*Anyone who repeatedly fails to show up for an appointment may not be booked in again for future appointments.

LATE DROP OFFS AND PICKUPS
*Anyone who shows up +15 minutes late for their appointment may be canceled and rescheduled. This is again due to the 2 hour slot reserved to you, even just being 15 minutes late can push back all the appointments for the day.
*A late cancellation fee may also be charged as the slot will not be able to be refilled at short notice.

*Anyone who is +30 minutes late picking up their dog will be charged €5 per 30 minutes or €10 per 30 minutes outside business hours. The first 30 minutes are free within business hours.

I hope everyone can understand and respect why these policies have been put in place. These are all policies which most other groomers also have. I have been lucky enough to not have to put these policies in place for so long but unfortunately the past two weeks have had an unbelievable amount of no shows and late pickups.

I wasn’t going to post on here but so many of you still ask about Scooby regularly.
Many of you would have met him when I first opened my salon from a little shed at home 8 years ago.

At the fantastic age of 16yrs, Scooby crossed over Rainbow Bridge on Monday 🌈

I don’t know a life without him. He saw me through primary school through to college, all the highs and lows of growing up, opening my business, my salons first mascot and buying our forever home.

A true one in a life time dog. Words can’t describe how much he is missed already.

Many of you will be looking for new pups this time of year and here are my top tips for choosing a breeder & puppy.

If you have really decided against rescue (which if you have kids etc taking on a dog that’s been fostered etc is actually safer) then at least give yourself a fighting chance of a healthy happy pup and here is how:

Some of these will surprise you, but I promise you if you do these things you’ll end up with the best possible chances of a nice family dog

1. BEFORE you look at a pup ask breeder to send you a copy of the parents health test score then phone a vet to interpret it. If they haven’t done health tests they don’t care about the health & well being of the pups. Do not buy from this person - they don’t care about you.

2. Ask for photos AND videos of the breeding stock BEFORE they were pregnant. If they can’t produce this they are puppy farmers in disguise. Any and all real family pets or loved working dogs have had their pics taken and videos recorded.

3. Ask for proof of microchipping and vaccinations

4. Ask about mums personality - what’s her favourite toy, etc. you’ll know if they’re lying or not. If they don’t know they’re a puppy farmer.

Here’s the bit that might surprise you.

I don’t care if it’s a cross breed, or designer breed, Or if it is a pedigree dog with kennel club papers or not, - those things make no difference to your pup. (Your pup can’t read). All your pup knows is what mum was like and if she was healthy & confident and happy and puppy knows if it’s in pain or not.

Look up your preferred breed. Check their drives and make sure you can satisfy them. Look up what conditions and diseases they are prone to and ask any potential seller for health tests against those. Without those tests your breeder is no better than a money grabbing irresponsible puppy farmer. Please do not buy from these people.

NOW YOU CAN GO SEE THE PUPPIES TO CHOOSE YOUR NEW PET…..

Once you have those things go and see the pups.
Choose a happy confident pup - if you want a pet then go with your heart…… and get them enrolled in a puppy class.

Note: professional breeders and breed specialists or those with sporting / working aspirations will have a few more steps but this is just for a family pet.

Where did the week go? 🫢
Last weekend I gave my very first Coat Maintenance Seminar!
It went better than I could have imagined. I kept it small for our first one with a group of 5 wonderful people!
Here’s a little video of how it went below ☺️

I taught the correct method of brushing and maintaining your dogs coat at home along with many other topics.
Our beautiful models Bruno, Ryuu and Sophie did me so proud!

I will be taking names soon for our second date! There’s already lots of interest through our instagram.

Two months ago I started organising a seminar, I put feelers out there on my instagram stories and ‘sold out’ within 5 minutes 🫣
I have been talking about this seminar for a few weeks on my instagram stories but taking my time putting it all together, putting lots of work into it as it’s something I’m very proud and passionate about and in the works since before the pandemic. It’s something I’ve never seen been done before I put the idea out there.

During hot weather would 7:30ams suit some people? I’d like to trial out new opening hours (7:30-3:30 most days) this summer if there’s enough interest as the salon is like a greenhouse on days like today 🥵

It’s no issues for the dogs as I have measures to keep them cool for the 1-2 hours they’re in here but long term the heat gets to my head half way through the day 😂

🐾 When messaging you will get an automated message with questions. Not answering the questions implies our terms in the text do not suit you/your dog and message won’t be replied to.

🐾 We are only taking dogs on a regular, preferably prebooked schedule as all my clients do.

🐾 If I haven’t seen your dog in 4-5 months we may not be able to book you back in depending on how regular your dog should be groomed.
This is to prevent being passed around which is extremely unfair to most dogs who need to earn trust and have a routine with their groomer. As I work one to one, I spend a lot of my time building trust with each dog that comes in to make the session as comfortable and stress free as possible. This can take months or even years with some dogs, skipping one groom can often reset all that hard work.

🐾 All of the above has been the case for years but to save time explaining in person you can read these in your own time.
🐾 I am happy to answer any questions if you’re unsure of anything above ☺️
