Before you ask me how do you punish your puppy after he has chewed your shoe, ask yourself why did you leave him in a position where he was able to do it????
Dogs do not think like humans, they do not understand that the shoes left out on the floor are not for them to play with.

At Boarding Kennels & Pet Services relaxing on a summers day 🌞.... the girls had a ball playing & chasing with the boarding doggies. What a relaxing place for your puppies holidays. Highly recommend Babs & her team, Polly, Patrick & Eoin to look after the doggies while you're on your holidays...

More terribly sad news as I learned recently of the passing of our beautiful Jules 💔. Jules had been coming to the grooming parlour for many years & she was such a beautiful lady.

She loved pottering about the garden & investigating all the new smells since her last visit, totally oblivious to the other dogs around her. She was such a quiet, gentle creature. She loved her pampering and in recent years, as she aged, her poor little body had bore all the symptoms of the lumps & bumps of old age.

But she never complained. I actually never heard Jules bark in all the years she was here. The Blue Roan c**ker has the saddest looking face ever & both myself & Babs totally adored Jules. She had a special place in our hearts & we loved seeing her coming in.

Recently she was diagnosed with Cushings Disease & her poor little body eventually gave in to the stresses of having it. She passed away peaceful in her heartbroken parents arms.
To say they are devastated is an understatement. Margaret & Brendan treated Jules as their child. She was living her best life, going on holidays, hiking & had frequent visits to the beaches at weekends. She had a wonderful life & wonderful parents & she is very sadly missed 😢💔.
We miss her terribly at the grooming parlour.

RIP beautiful Jules 🌹

Little Maggie & her sister Lily were coming to the grooming parlour for about 6 years. They were adopted by their devoted Mummy Deirdre who gave them the best possible life. They were living the dream and their Mummy absolutely adored them ❤️.

2 years ago poor Lily crossed the rainbow bridge after an awful few weeks of illness. To say Maggie & Deirdre were devastated is an understatement, they were both inconsolable 😢.

Last night Deirdre told me the dreadful news that poor Maggie had crossed the rainbow bridge to join Lily yesterday afternoon. She is absolutely heartbroken 😢. Poor Maggie was lost for Lily so her Mum got her a new sister Sadie. Sadie is just a year old now & she adored Maggie. Maggie was like a mother to Sadie & she is missing her terribly 😢💔.

Maggie was a gorgeous girl, unique & special & independent. She knew what she wanted, and more importantly, what she didn't want. She loved her strolls in the park & her 'foster mummy' Audrey who babysat her & looked after her when Deirdre was away. Maggie will be very sadly missed by a lot of people & doggies. She adored her family & they adored her. She was one special little lady & I'm sure Lily was there to meet her & show her the way across that rainbow bridge. United again these 2 special puppies 😢💔...

The hardest part of having a doggie is saying goodbye 😢, there is no greater pain 💔...
RIP beautiful Maggie 🌹, the grooming parlour will not be the same without you 😢💔...

Absolutely fantastic results from Crufts last night with the beautiful Zen, a 9 year old Jack Russel Terrier, taking Reserve Best in Show to the stunning winner Viking, the Australian Shepherd.

This is amazing for the Jack Russel Terrier breed. They were first introduced into the Irish Kennel club in 1999 when they were first on show at NSC Cloghran on St Patrick's Day. My Sally (Greenogue's Lady Guinevere), took Best Bitch & went on to take Best of Breed & Reserve Best in Show that year. She was first generation registered JRT. 3rd generation, or Sally's grandchildren, would be classed as Pedigree JRT's.

Unfortunately Lucy, her grandchild, couldn't show due to illness & I stopped showing.
But what excitement to see this wonderful breed as runner up in the biggest dog show in the world. And what a fantastic example of the breed Zen is... well done Zen 🏆

Last Sunday I received heart breaking news that the handsome old gentleman Freddie Byrne had crossed the rainbow bridge 😢. Freddie was a great character here in the grooming parlour & loved his spa days.

Unfortunately Freddie suffered with a very bad back for the last couple of years, even suffering partial paralysis at times. He walked slightly crooked due to this but despite several turns & frightening his wonderful owner Anne on several occasions, he always bounced back. Freddie just didn't have time to be sick.

Just before Christmas he took a turn from which he never really fully recovered from. Each one was taking a toll on his poor body. He was on a lot of pain meds & last weekend he took another turn from which there was no coming back from & poor Anne had to make that dreadful decision to say goodbye to her best pal & faithful loyal companion 😢💔.

To say he will be missed is an understatement, Anne is absolutely heartbroken but she was a fantastic mummy to Freddie & gave him the best life ever. He will be very sadly missed here in the grooming parlour 💔😢.

RIP beautiful Freddie 🌹

As Christmas looms ever closer, I've finally put away the clippers for 2023 🤗. It's been a wonderful year in the grooming parlour & I want to thank all my amazing owners for entrusting their gorgeous pets into my care for their regular pampering & Spa days ❤️.

It's been a pleasure looking after all these beautiful creatures & I love & adore every single one of them. Every day in the grooming parlour is different, all the different personalities of the doggies, but the common factor is the incredible greetings - waggy tails & hugs & kisses I get every morning when they arrive for pampering (the doggies, not the owners 😆). It sets me up for the whole day... ❤️.

Thanks also to Babs, who is absolutely amazing & brilliant & who worked unbelievably hard this year in the grooming parlour, helping to keep all the doggies looking beautiful. I'd be lost without her ❤️...

I also want to remember the beautiful doggies who have crossed the rainbow bridge this year 🌹. I hope their heartbroken Mummies & Daddies find solace this Christmas & remember, they are never too far from us, they live on in our hearts & our souls & will never be forgotten ❤️.

So, I want to wish you all a safe & happy Christmas & a wonderful New Year 🎄. I'll be busy training my new puppies, Tilly & Poppy & trying hard not to let them walk all over me 😆... 🎄🐕

Tilly & Poppy

On the 5th November my little Lucy was 4 years gone & Sue was 5.5 years gone 💔. I always said I'd never get another doggy as I missed my little girls so much. But then, I had all the doggy cuddles I could wish for from my amazing groomers ❤️...

However, 2 weeks ago, after months of thinking & planning, & deciding & indecision, and with the help & encouragement of my fantastic friend Babs, I brought these 2 little puppers into my life...

Meet Tilly & Poppy 😃... they are twin sisters & 3 months old. Some of you have already met them in the grooming parlour.
They are mutts - Mummy is a Cavalier/Bichon cross & Daddy is a Maltese - so a mongrel, as they would have been known in yesteryear before these "designer breeds" erupted onto the market.

They are wonderful, beautiful, cute, cheeky & very hard work. It's 21 years since my last litter of puppies were born & I forgot how hard it is - but I absolutely adore them. They love coming to work in the grooming parlour & have the best fun meeting all their new friends in for pampering...

Here's to the next 15 years at least of unconditional love, loyalty, magic & fun in my life & theirs... 🤗

On Thursday morning last I got a very sad text from John. His little doggy Millie, was very sick & the vets advised that it was time to cross the rainbow bridge. Devastated, he decided to take her home for a few days to say goodbye 😢.

And so, Millie came home for a few precious days to give her family time to accept this heartbreaking news & give them all time to say goodbye 💔.

On Saturday afternoon John texted me again to say they had helped Millie cross the rainbow bridge, surrounded by her loving & heartbroken family 💔. They are absolutely devastated as Millie was with them through thick & thin & was foster mother to each of the grandchildren, who loved & adored her... 💔💔💔

Millie was 16 years old & an amazing little doggy. For a Yorkie, she was very easy going. She stood like a model on the grooming table & loved her pamper days here in the parlour. Yorkies can be very cross but Millie was the gentlest soul ever.

She was so tiny, but after her pampering she would stroll around the garden, surrounded by the big dogs, like she was c**k of the walk. They bigger dogs bowed to her. She had a presence about her, despite her tiny stature. She will be very much missed here in the grooming parlour 😢💔.

Her family did a great thing for Millie by bringing her home to say goodbye. I did it with both my Lucy & Sue when they got sick. Sometimes, when the vets give us such horrifying & unexpected news, we end up saying goodbye there & then. We don't get time to think. But bringing your doggy home for a few days to get used to the idea & a chance to hug & cuddle & say goodbye is a great thing to be able to do. It doesn't make it any easier but it can help us come to terms better. We do it for humans, why not do it for our beautiful doggies...

RIP beautiful, precious Millie 🌹

This morning I got the very sad news that the beautiful Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge 😔 💔💔💔.

Charlie was an amazing dog and fought the bravest battle against cancer. 18 months ago he was diagnosed with a major tumour on his back, between his hip & his tail. This tumour was pushing into his body & badly affecting his colon, making it very difficult for him to go to the toilet. The options were to have the tumour debulked, but could never be fully removed & the operation would have serious side affects & huge risks, including incontinence & possible paralysis. The other option was leave & monitor it. Growth was rapid & prognosis bad 😔.

Charlie had an incredibly active life & would make a bad patient, so his amazing owners Deirdre & Gerard, decided to go the homeopathic route as well as working with the brilliant vets in Beaufield Veterinary Centre.

For the next 18 months Charlie led his best life, pain free & full of adventure & excitement. He was always a very active dog, hiking, mountain climbing, forest trails - he never stopped. His diet was altered as the tumour progressed. Unfortunately, yesterday evening, Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge, at home, surrounded by his loving family & the vets from Beaufield 💔💔💔...

I can only describe Charlie as a total gentleman, an adorable, lovely, kind gentleman. He had the most beautiful nature of a dog ever. He never complained, barked or got cranky all through his illness. He had the most gorgeous eyes that looked into your soul when he hugged you. I absolutely adored Charlie & I was honoured & privileged to be his groomer. He will be very sadly missed here in the grooming parlour 💔💔💔...

His adoring family are absolutely heartbroken at his loss, no words can console them at this time, except to say Charlie was very lucky to have you as his family, you gave him the best life ever & he will be watching over you all from the great hiking trails in the sky 💔💔💔.

RIP beautiful Charlie 🌹

Unfortunately (or fortunately, whichever side of the fence you're on), the grooming parlour is completely, totally & absolutely fully booked out until 2024. There simply is not another hour left in the diary. I just cannot squeeze another puppy in this side of 2024.

I'm so sorry to have to disappoint anyone looking for bookings now. Unless there are unexpected cancellations, which seldom happen, there are no more spaces left 🤷‍♀️...

If you wish to be added to the cancellation list please let me know, but be prepared, it's long.......

Thank you to all my amazing owners who book their appointments 6 months & 12 months in advance. I'm extremely lucky to have such organised clients & beautiful doggies in my life.. 🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐩

As a lot of you know I am a Community First Responder with our local Four Districts Community First Responder group here in our local community of Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart, Brittas and Citywest.❤️

In order to continue to bring vital life saving cardiac skills and equipment to those in urgent need within our community, unfortunately we need to fundraise as we are not government funded.

My fellow CFR Martina Ring has volunteered to do the Womens Mini Marathon this weekend to help raise much needed funds for equipment like Defibrillators, emergency kit bags, training equipment, insurance etc.

If you can spare a few euro at all to sponsor her it would be very much appreciated and a huge help in keeping us on the road and bringing vital emergency cardiac care to those in urgent need. Unfortunately, no one knows when they might need us, life can change so suddenly & we are usually first on scene to administer life saving procedures.

So if you can help at all, in any little way, I would greatly appreciate it 🙏. Thank you everyone... 🤗

Hi, I’m Martina and I’m taking part in the Women’s Mini Marathon to raise funds for defibrillators & … Martina Ring needs your support for Four Districts CFR

It is with a heavy heart that I report today that another very special doggy crossed the rainbow bridge this morning 💔.

The beautiful Bert was 16 years old but he acted like a 2 year old. He was a very regular visitor to the grooming parlour for pampering & massage.

A few years ago we found a lump around his back leg, near his tail. The vet removed it & thank God it was benign. Unfortunately it returned, & because of Berts age & risks involved with anesthesia at age 15, his Mummy decided to monitor it & leave it as it was, so long as Bert was pain free.

Unfortunately, over the past few months the tumour has been growing rapidly & a biopsy showed it was now an aggressive form of cancer. Bert unfortunately was getting weaker & his heartbroken Mummy had to make the dreadful decision this morning to help him cross the great divide 🌈 💔😢...

Bert was an amazing little creature! Despite his lumps, bumps & operations he acted as if he was a young lad & he posed on the grooming table like a model 😊! He loved being pampered & cuddled & he will be very sadly missed by his amazing Mummy Mary & by myself here in the grooming parlour 💔 😢.

Bert, you were amazing, you loved without prejudice & you were loved & adored by whomever had the pleasure of meeting you ❤️.

RIP you beautiful creature... 🌹

🌲🐕 🌲 As Christmas is upon us & the last puppies have been pampered & prepped for Santa's imminent arrival, I want to thank you all for your continued support throughout 2022 & entrusting your puppies to me for their beautification.
2022 was a very busy year in the grooming parlour & I look forward to an equally busy 2023. It was a sad year for some, as their babies gained their angels wings & crossed the rainbow bridge. But remember, they are still close by, watching over you, silently... 🐕‍🦺.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas & a happy & healthy New Year...🌲 🐕🌲

Remembering Lucy ❤️

Three years ago, on this day, 5th November 2019, my beautiful Lucy crossed the rainbow bridge to join her Mum Sue, her Grandmother Sally & her step dad Jack 💔.

Lucy was just over 18 years old when she decided it was time to go. At age two she had a hip replacement (long before Noel Fitzpatrick hit our TV screens) as she had a genetic disorder called Legg-Perthes disease, where the femoral head of the hip joint basically rots away. So I had to get her neutered to prevent breeding this on in her puppies.
She bravely fought cancer twice and after her Mum died in February 2018 she started biking with me. She absolutely adored it & we became completely inseparable. My little biker chic 💔...
To say I miss this little lady is an understatement. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of her & miss her dreadfully 😢💔.

Most of you who come into the grooming parlour will remember Lucy & Sue & many of you still see me cry for them when I talk about them 😢. They were very special creatures in my life 💔.

So many of the beautiful doggies that I groom have joined Lucy across that bridge & its heartbreaking for their owners & for me. I completely feel the heartache & the physical pain of losing a very special friend when I hear another baby has slipped away 💔. I imagine Lucy & Sue there to greet them & show them the way, as they did when they'd come into the grooming parlour for their grooms. A familiar face to say hello on their new journey.. 💔
No matter how much time passes, they are still our babies and we never, ever forget them... 💔💔

Remembering my beautiful Lucy today 🌹... 💔
