There's thunder in the air this evening and for those of you with anxious dogs, licki mats or kongs are a great way to relax your dog. Licking is a natural stress reliever for dogs so giving them something to lick while thunder or fireworks are going on outside can really help.
Cleo is the only one in our house that doesn't like the thunder but the other two benefit from it cause they also get liki mats. 😊

They've been set up with calming music on Alexa, and scrambled egg, peanut butter and coconut oil on their liki mats.

As much as I love spending time with the two main men in my life, I think it's time for me to go back to work. 💪😂
The salon will be reopening on the 4th of June. Please send me a WhatsApp to get booked in. June has already started filling up with some clients already having gotten in contact.

Please be patient with my replies. The tiny boss man hasn't started creche yet so I'm still bouncing between managing the salon phone/diary and him. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. 😁🐩🐾

Just a gentle reminder that the salon is closed at the moment while Georgia is on work placement and I'm on maternity. I will be back the first week in June. Once Georgia is finished work placement we will be reopening on a part time basis. We will let everyone know when that is closer to the time.

When Bailey first came into us, his owners had to give him a mild sedative due to his anxiety and fear of grooming. Now he's in once a month, doesn't need a sedative and loves grooming so much he'll run in the door for cuddles and even jump up onto the table while waiting to be collected. 😊 we're super impressed with this gorgeous chap.

As most of you now know, a new member of the Barking Barbers team is due in early December. 👶My last week before I go on maternity leave will be the 21st to the 24th of November (all going to plan and the little man doesn't decide on an early arrival🙈)

Senior management member Cleo having a snuggle with Winx the cockapoo. 🥰 Some owners will say their pups are scared of big dogs but lots of the smaller and nervous dogs love Cleo because she has such a calm confident personality. They feel safe with her. 🥰

We're back from our holidays and these are the only two cuties we managed to get photos of today. 🙈

Alfie the Scottie and Sofia the poodle are both in fabulous breed standard trims. 🥰

Just a gentle reminder that the salon will be closed from Friday the 28th of July until Tuesday the 8th of August while we're on holidays.

Transformation of the week goes to Luna the schnauzer puppy.🥰
Her owners decided to not go with the traditional schnauzer trim and instead opted for the teddy bear look. We think she looks super cute. ❤️

Thats a wrap for 2022. 🥰
I'd like to thank everyone for all their support since I took over from Helen. It's been a whirlwind few months and I'm looking forward to more training and competitions next year.
For now the management team are panned out infront of the fire and excited for their break.
We will be back on the 10th of January and are currently booking into February.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and happy new year. 😊

Before we went on our holidays we decided to trial the shampoos on a few dogs and the feedback we got from clients was amazing. We found dogs were cleaner and their coats easier to work with than our previous shampoo and some clients said they could still smell the shampoo two weeks later and that dirt picked up on mucky evening walks brushed out much quicker.
So we decided to invest and bought plenty for Xmas. 😊 These shampoos are full of keratin and vitamins to help strengthen the coat and are suitable for even sensitive skin.
Many thanks to the for their advice on the best range to buy for our clients.

We're on a much needed holiday to recharge before the Christmas madness.

Our next available appointment is the 22nd of November with very limited appointments left for the rest of the year.

After another really long day madra mania, myself and teddy took home third in our class. 😍 Thank you to both teddy and Marley's owners for bringing them in every week for the last month in order to keep their coat right for today. I really do appreciate it.
Now to prepare for Februarys competition in northern Ireland. 😁

Shedding season has well and truly begun. 🙈 Benji the shepherd came in for a nice de-shed and boy did he lose a lot of hair. Making sure your dog's coat has been properly de-shed before the summer comes in will help keep your dog nice and cool by allowing the air to get down to the skin. 😊 #doggrooming #doggroomersofinstagram #germanshepherd #dublin15 #blanchardstown

Little Ella finds grooming quite scary so to help her gain more confidence we always end everything on a happy note and she gets loads of cuddles afterwards. She's a little snuggle bunny. 🥰🥰

Sometimes grooming is scary and peanut butter helps. 🥰 Joy here was a little bit anxious for her groom today, so to help with that we gave her a licki Mat with some lovely peanut butter on it for her bath. Licking is a soothing behaviour for dogs, it can help them feel more calm and relaxed and makes the whole process much more enjoyable.
