World Rabies Day, 2022: Invitation to Webinar

The 16th annual World Rabies Day (WRD) will be commemorated on 28th September 2022. This year’s theme is “Rabies: One Health, Zero Deaths”.

In line with the theme of this year’s theme, and in the spirit of “One Health,” the Quadripartite organizations (FAO, WHO, WOAH and UNEP), together with the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) and the African Union, jointly invites participation to the regional webinar on rabies.

International One Health Day, Nov 3

One Health is an approach that recognises that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment.

The discussion on the radio programme, with Yemi Sonde on Splash 105.5FM, held on Tuesday, 2nd November 2021, was used to get stakeholders and other members of the public informed about some of the issues One Health Approach can help to solve : zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety and food security, vector-borne diseases, environmental contamination, and other health threats shared by people, animals, and the environment.

Oyo Assembly Seeks to Safeguard Human Health by Ensuring Adequate Care for Dogs.

She(a member of the Assembly, Hon. Olawumi Oladeji, the sponsorer of the bill) said, “When passed, the law will make it mandatory for every dog owner to keep them under control so as to prevent the animals from attacking people while their dogs must also be vaccinated against all communicable diseases including Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis and Rabies hence a certificate of vaccination must be issued to ascertain such in line with international standard”.
