I have a couple of silver babies that will be ready to adopt in roughly another month. One boy & one girl, both look very similar. Currently a month old, growing beautifully. Medium-ish length hair by the looks which may require a little maintenance.
They will need the company of another guinea pig of the same s*x. I have older girls I can pair the girl with but not any extra boys atm, des*xing is an option also to allow a boy/girl pair if you want to go down that route.
The babies have been handled every day of their life. The boy prefers to be left alone at this point but the girl is quite happy to chill on your lap.
Raised completely indoors so not suitable to live outside this winter.

Flick me a message if you are interested (:

There is a lot going on in my life right now & has been for a while now. It has become too difficult for me to keep up with everything so I am choosing to officially step away from this page for a while & focus my energy elsewhere.
So no rescues, no adoptions & no boarding for the foreseeable.
I will continue to answer queries where I can but please don't expect an immediate response (:

Happy holidays x

1mยฒ of space available to a pair of guinea pigs is not unreasonable! If you can not meet that minimum requirement, I am not for you.

Bonnie, Harley, Fleek & Holly are up next to adopt. All 4 are pure shelties. All pretty young but unsuitable to breed. Gorgeous ladies.
Can't seem to find a pic of Holly, only videos ๐Ÿ˜… she's mostly white with black, similar to Fleek. Will take updated pics tomorrow for those interested.

I am very particular about where they end up. If you can not offer them the required minimum space, I will not allow them to go to you. It may sound harsh but their health & wellbeing is my main concern.
I do have more spare hutches/runs now. 3 different ones which can be sold with these girls or separately.

Let me know! Always happy to answer questions!

I have made the hard call to drop my herd numbers further due to my personal circumstances. So I have a few more happy, healthy girls up for adoption. These 3 are all from my main female herd & co-habiting well. So could go together or separately to different homes with other females or a des*xed boy.
Individual info under each picture (:

Whopper & Burger are also still here & there will quite likely be a few more girls available at a later date. I have however halted all breeding indefinitely.
Also have a hutch available, I purchased it recently, only been used for a week but plans have changed so needs to go.

I will ask about your set up & it needs to be adequate, a good home with a good set up is more important than the cost of them (: Can sort transport around NZ for you if needed.

There is a post doing the rounds atm & it really irritates me as it is misinformation.
The main point of the original post (that it is normal for guinea pigs to eat some of their p**p) is correct however saying "guinea pigs don't produce caecotrophs" is wrong.

Guinea pigs have two kinds of p**p. One they eat & one they don't.

They DO produce cecal p**p aka caecotrophs throughout the day/night. They are more of a green colour, softer & they almost always eat them immediately (so you may never have seen them but they definitely exist) compared to their normal brown ones that you probably spend your life cleaning up if you have guinea pigs ๐Ÿ˜†
Caecotrophs are an important part of their diet! If you start finding them, it is cause for concern.

There are also scholarly articles that support this but found a very simple break down as below.
It is hard enough as it is to get the general public aware of a guinea pigs needs without pages generally trusted for accuracy, missinforming their followers.

Last two baby boys up for adoption unless others fall through (: Not quite ready yet.
Both boys are shelties (half brothers) so their hair will grow down to about their feet. Can show you their parents if you're curious about how long that actually is. Not difficult to maintain at all with the odd trim & semi-regular brushing.
Prefer them to go together but can go separately if there are a couple people looking for a wee boy to bond with with an older male pig.

Message me to enquire!
Adoption fee applies.

Next up are Burger & Whopper ๐Ÿฅฐ

Whopper (ginger) is approximately 2yrs old & short-haired. She came to me as a rescue. She doesn't mind being handled & patted but is very anti any guinea pig ๐Ÿ˜† (Burger being the only exception, she doesn't even like babies). So not particularly suited to a herd environment. I have tried to integrate her into one of my female herds & she does not want a bar of it. Possibly well suited to pairing up with a des*xed boy.

Burger (multicoloured) is approximately 5yrs old which is getting on for a guinea pig. She has slightly longer hair than Whopper, she is very soft to the touch & also a rescue. She has fatty eye, which doesn't affect her negatively & unlikely to cause her any issues, her eye, just looks a little unusual. Her overall health is very good for her age. She is quite lively & loves a good snuggle. She will likely adapt to herd life very easily given the opportunity.

As they are older, they have no adoption fees. I am hoping to find them a forever home together but I am open to them going separately if you have the perfect home!

Message me to enquire if you think you could offer one or both of these girls a great life!

Next one up for adoption is Caramel. He is a lone boy currently as he is highly aggressive to other males. Approx 10 months old. NOT SUITABLE FOR BREEDING. He is a rescue twice over so really hope to get it right this time & find him a forever home. Originally rescued from a horror show of excessive breeding as a tiny baby & rescued a second time when his previous owner surrendered him back here. He was in bad shape upon arrival. A few months here & hes back to being a happy, healthy boy.
He likes to zoom around & is quite fond of chatting to other guinea pigs through the wire of his hutch but does not like sharing his space with boys.
He's quite shy & quiet but he definitely has an inquisitive nature the more familiar you get. Not a fan of being held but he'll let me pat him.

Is there anyone who thinks they have a forever home for this wee fella?

Gorgeous wee Buzz has joined us & is on pregnancy watch for the next 10wks.
She is just 10wks old herself, so just a baby but unfortunately for her, more than old enough to be pregnant.

Please don't sell/gift guinea pigs to others if you don't actually know the gender of them, guessing & hoping for the best often ends terribly... It creates an endless cycle of needless suffering for those unsuspecting, both the guinea pigs & those people who trust you know what you're on about!
Help break this ridiculous cycle by correctly s*xing your guinea pigs every time!!

Nothing leaves here misgendered or pregnant & that's how it should be.

Next two up for adoption are Daisy & Biscuit. I estimate them to be between 5 & 6 months old, possibly siblings? They are selfs (a single colour) & NOT FOR BREEDING as they are rescues & came from a terrible, terrible situation.
Both girls have almost passed their pregnancy watch & while I am pretty confident they are not, they'll need to get to the end of their possible pregnancy window (about 2wks away) before they'll be completely cleared to leave. They have been in my female only herd for a while now & are both relatively placid when it comes to fellow guinea pigs.

Daisy (darker one) is quite the character. She is veeery flighty, she has been handled quite often during her time here but her natural instinct to run & hide is very prominent. She will let me pat her (just!) but has minimal tolerance ๐Ÿ˜† She is happiest left to her own devises & loves to run around & play outside with my female herd.
She was separated first from the rescue group that originally came with her as they were squabbling & being mean to her but I found she struggled without Biscuit around. Once together again they slotted into herd life beautifully.
You can tell she was very unsure about what I was upto taking pictures of her, the look on her face is pure disgust ๐Ÿ˜†
Daisy will need to go to someone who understands & accepts she may never be up for snuggles. She will need a lot of patience & understanding to really thrive.

Biscuit (lighter one) is much calmer & quite inquisitive. She wanted to know what I was upto taking pictures & hilariously wiggled her way into a hoody at the other end of the couch once she'd had enough of me. She definitely has flighty tendencies but will let you pick her up & pat her without any real drama if you're familiar to her. I am relatively confident she will continue to tame up nicely with patience. She too loves herd life & enjoys bouncing round with the girls outside.

Ideally they will go together, they would love being part of another herd but will be equally happy together as your only guinea pigs with lots of space.
If you think you are the perfect person/family to adopt these girls, message me to enquire!

I can not stress enough how important it is to know the gender of your guinea pigs. Check yourself, it does not matter where they originally came from. Pet stores screw up often but not all breeders get it right either & tragically, not even every vet can s*x guinea pigs accurately.

Very few are des*xed, especially this far south. Both genders can be des*xed by an experienced vet at a relatively young age. If someone tells you they are, get proof of it from the vet who did the surgery before you trust what you are being told. Some of the rescues are very reliable in des*xing males for re-home within a female herd, & I am sure they will happily provide you with the necessary confirmation of it.
Something to note is it takes approximately 6 weeks for the des*xing of a male to be 100% effective, so make sure that time has lapsed first.

Two guinea pigs of the opposite s*x can be together for a really long time before the female gets pregnant (it is not instantaneous) so that's not something you can trust either. Boys can be late bloomers, as can girls, weight has a lot to do with it in my experience but that is irrelevant. Genders need split from 3wks of age. End of.

It breaks my heart every time I hear of unexpected litters, there is absolutely no need for them. If dad is there when the babies were born, odds are mama is pregnant for the second time before you've even realised they've multiplied the first time ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
They come back into heat veeery quickly after birth, within hours. Poor wee things.

Unless you have experience, baby boys should be removed from their sisters & mama from day 21 at the latest. There is the odd exception but better safe than sorry as they can & do impregnate their mamas & sisters from their 4th week of life.

Both s*xes are easily distinguishable from a couple weeks of age, I can do it from day olds with a 100% accuracy but not everyone can.

The s*xing basics for guinea pigs are as follows... will try add pics in comments to assist you as googling doesn't come up with very many suitable guides.
Baby boys look as though they are the letter i. As they hit puberty their testicles drop, they are usually easily identifiable by then. A good trick is to gently press (sometimes a little wiggle) just above the ge****ls of what you believe is a boy & a wee p***s will pop out at you to confirm.
Baby girls have a Y shape & if you gently press above them, it just sort of opens out into a more identifiable Y rather than revealing their male counterparts manhood.

If you're not sure, message me & ask. Always happy to help (:

Chewy (black&gold) came to me a few weeks ago to find a new friend (as his last friend passed away) & it has been an absolute success!

These two are the best of friends now. Often find them snuggled up together ๐Ÿฅฐ
Chewy is approx 3yrs old & had been rescued by his previous owner from a life of neglect. He is now a chunky boy who loves to eat, he's a little shy of strangers but has warmed upto me no issue once he realised I wasn't the enemy ๐Ÿ˜†
Bungeye is almost 6 months old & was bred here... He got his name from a hay poke injury to his eye as a baby which fully healed. He has been handled his whole life so pretty chill.
Both long haired so will need to be groomed occasionally to prevent matting.

They are so cute together & now available for adoption. Must stay together.
Lemme know if you think you can offer these two an amazing home (:
