Foaling season is underway

This beautiful wee c**t arrived last night just before midnight. All went to plan and mum and foal are enjoying the sunshine today.

The Oakdale manager (aka Baby Burrows, Iris) said goodbye to another horse she’s been looking after that has been completing its rehab with us. Emma came to us with issues in all four feet and needed to spend some time resting and relaxing in our purpose built boxes. Unfortunately for Iris, she can’t keep them all, and Emma went home this weekend feeling much better having recovered from her feet issues. Sarah Burrows Sam Burrows

We have this cute wee guy Murdoch, joining us for a couple of weeks of box rest following surgery at Rangiora Vet Centre Equine. Here he is enjoying himself out of the rain outside.

About us:

Sarah and Sam Burrows, together we both work at Rangiora Vet Centre as an equine vet 🐴🩺and vet nurse👩‍⚕️The above services are being offered with the peace of mind that your horse will be receiving the best care possible. We have both been involved with horses throughout our lives and have our own at our Oakdale property. Oakdale is a 30 acre property located in Eyrewell, North Canterbury just 15 minutes from Rangiora. We are offering a number of services and looking to add more as we develop etc foaling down. We are happy to take any horse of any discipline.
We look forward to working with you and your horse in the future in providing the best care possible.

🐴OPEN🐴
The barn is officially open and ready for any rehabilitation/box rest horses! Here are a few photos of the boxes, we opted for our boxes to be as open as possible for our rehabilitation horses to feel like they aren’t confined while still being safe and rested and also for optimum ventilation and air flow. We have had some horses in already and they love the boxes, they seem very relaxed and comfortable which was exactly our goal especially for those needing confinement for longer periods while they recover.

We are also offering short term paddock spelling and holiday agistment in either a small pens or larger paddocks depending on your horse’s requirement.
We are north Canterbury based, being 10 minutes from Rangiora, but more than happy to take horses from wherever needed.

Excited to see the progress with the barn - the roof is on and now time for final touches. Not long until we can have our first horses stay!

🐴 Coming soon! 🐴

The barn is half way to being finished, after this is completed we will be able to offer our equine rehabilitation services. From box rest post surgery or any horses requiring box rest from injury. Once the barn is complete we will update the page with a full list of services that we are able to provide. We can monitor progress of wound healing, take care of bandage changes or treat with medication etc. The team at Oakdale consists of a qualified and experienced Equine vet and vet nurse caring for your horses and ensuring that they have a great recovery. We are able to offer top of the line care for their wellbeing and your piece of mind.

We also have small paddocks available that your horse/s can progress to on their way to recovery before they can go back to a normal size paddock, all while being closely monitored.

We will keep the page up to date with the progress of the barn and when the opening date will be of the equine rehabilitation services.
