Is this what we've come to? Instead of teaching children to kill cats, we'd be better off teaching adults to de-sex their animals and not to "dump" unwanted kittens. As with any other animal related issue in this country, the fault lies with an original bad decision by a human. Animals unfortunately end up paying the price through no fault of their own.

A controversial cat-culling competition has gone ahead, with participants bagging 370 feral moggies and some of their antics raising a few eyebrows...

I don't think we've had a kitten as energetic as Rosie for awhile. Always racing around at a million miles an hour 🥰. Gus just sits atop the shelve and watches her. I'm sure by the look on his face sometimes, he wishes he could be anywhere but here.

CLOSED DATES: Just a reminder to our clients that the cattery will be closing at 6pm Thursday 22nd August and will re-open again at 9am Monday 23rd September.
We've had a brilliant year so far, your support has been fantastic. The cattery is pretty much full for July and bookings are coming in thick and fast for 23rd Sept onwards. So get in early if you are planning a holiday.
On that note, please do not phone me about Christmas/New Year. I cannot take you! 😊 All spaces are full.

I think this is only the 2nd time in twelve years we've had a Devon Rex stay. Bella is so tiny, I have to be careful not to stand on her. Her little friend is Riley, a Bombay.

Well, we had a few hairy moments with this building prior to recording this video. First two lift attempts a bit dodgy when the maximum lift capacity of crane was three tonne and they realised our building weighed in at 2.850 tonne! Some minor adjustments were made and third attempt successful. So our building that will house our six indoor/outdoor single units was hoisted into the hospital driveway onto the back of a truck and driven around the corner, then craned back onto our property into it's new permanent location.

And the office goes over.

Somewhat amateur video taken by yours truly of our cattery buildings being moved to their new location. All done and dusted within two hours.

The safety of our pets should always be at the forefront of any pet owners obligations. Especially if you live near a busy road. It is becoming more common now for cats (as well as dogs), to be kept on their own property. I have seen pictures of some pretty good catio's in my time but this video, sent to me by current clients who own three cats, I think takes things to the next level. With a bit of imagination and flair, they have created an absolutely brilliant outdoor enclosure around the whole property to keep their cats at home and safe, especially Patch who is deaf. Have a watch and I'm sure you will get some amazing ideas.

Ashley Boarding Cattery is a first class boarding facility located in Rangiora, North Canterbury. Established nearly twenty years ago, the cattery is now set in peaceful garden surroundings, with units that are large and comfortable, providing everything your cat needs for a happy and contented stay with us. We consider cat welfare to be paramount so our clients can be confident their cat will receive the very best of care from our fully qualified and professional staff. We come highly recommended by Vets and cat welfare groups, and are well supported by local and repeat clientele. Our cattery prides itself on excellent customer service and as such, offers a free local pickup and delivery service. We are proud to be a member of the Pet Industry Association of Australia, and our facility was also AsureQaulity approved, prior to AsureQaulity discontinuing their Pet Boarding program in 2018. New clients are welcome to come and view the cattery at any time during opening hours or by prior arrangement. We can also collect or deliver your cat to Christchurch Airport if required. Our boarding cattery has a clean & modern quarantine area, away from the main cattery, for cats that are not vaccinated. Please talk to us about your requirements.
