Mustering sheep off the high top each autumn is one of the highlights of the working year. Traditionally it took gangs of up to six men and their dogs five to six weeks to muster this country, but today with the use of helicopters, the mustering can be completed in days, often with only two musterers.

The family still choose to camp out in the mustering huts after a day’s mustering, cooking over the open fire whilst enjoying a beer, and recalling tales of the high country from days gone by.

Davida and Guy Mead’s ties to this land run deep. As a child, Guy lived on the other side of the lake at Benwevis Station where, in 1922, Archibald Mead built a tent camp on the shores of the lake at Meads Landing. In 1954 it was amalgamated with Hunter Valley Station, and the family left the district, but in 1988 Guy returned to the area with his wife Davida to purchase Di**leburn Station, and they moved in with their teenage daughters, Nicky and Brigitte.

A landscape steeped in rich history.

Experience a down-to-earth, exclusive farm home-stay in a unique high country station in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island

Di**leburn Station is a magnificent New Zealand high-country station, located on the eastern shores of Lake Hawea, Wanaka. This working farm offers 7,000 hectares is an exclusive adventure playground for our visitors and guests. Enjoy dramatic views of the Southern Alps, charming high-country farm accommodation and adventure filled outdoor adventure.

Guests can enjoy mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, water sports or simply sit back, relax and unwind.

The original shearers quarters has been refurbished to offer modern yet rustic accommodation. The restored quarters sleeps 27 people, perfect for family gatherings, weddings or a weekend away with friends.

Di**leburn Station is owned by the Mead family; they run 10,000 head of merino sheep to supply super fine quality wool, and they run 300 quality Angus beef cattle. The Mead family ties to this land run deep. Today Nicky and Brigitte Mead follow in the footsteps of three generations, as custodians of their turangawaewae (place of belonging).
