▪️ Rabies is very dangerous disease and there is no way back once dog is infected.
▪️ According to vaccinating at least 70% of a country's dog population, can save lives of dogs as well as humans.
Symptoms of rabies in dogs:
▪️ Stark change in temperament. Your dog can become moody, angry and bite itself.
▪️The Paralytic Stage: The dog stops eating and drinking, and their mouth tends to droop open, dripping with foamy saliva. As dehydration takes over, total paralysis starts to set in, and the animal is close to death.
▪️Rabies is preventable via vaccination so it is highly recommended to vaccine your dogs against it.

▪️ Canine parvo virus (CPV) is an acute and often fatal febrile disease with digestive system signs mostly involving stomach and intestines commonly seen in the canines.
▪️Canine parvo virus belongs to parvoviridae family. Most terrestrial carnivores are susceptible to natural CPV infection.
▪️Clinical signs: Reported symptoms include anorexia, vomiting, foul smelling diarhea with blood, fever, depression, lethargy etc.
▪️The course of disease is varied, and individuals can differ widely in their presentation.
▪️In some cases, death can occur at this early stage.
▪️No definite treatment is reported, only supportive therapy is done to save life.
▪️CPV is preventable via vaccination so it is highly recommended to vaccine your dogs against it.

▪️Disease no. 1 Canine Distemper Virus
▪️ Canine distemper virus (CDV) is an acute and often fatal febrile disease with respiratory and central nervous system signs most commonly seen in the canines.
▪️Canine distemper is caused by a paramyxovirus of the genus Morbillivirus. Most terrestrial carnivores are susceptible to natural CDV infection.
▪️Clinical signs: Reported symptoms include respiratory signs, which may be accompanied by oculo-nasal discharge, and gastrointestinal signs such as anorexia, vomiting and diarrhoea and nervous signs at terminal stage.
▪️The course of disease is varied, and individuals can differ widely in their presentation.
▪️In some cases, death can occur at this early stage.
▪️Animals which survive the initial phase of disease may either make a full recovery or go on to develop progressive neurological signs.
▪️Neurological signs include blindness, ataxia, paresis, seizures and characteristic “Chewing Gum Fits”.
▪️Once neurological signs develop death is almost inevitable.
▪️CDV is preventable via vaccination so it is highly recommended to vaccine your dogs against it.

▪️With the advancement of summer season, your pet may be at the risk of getting heat stroke. So, here are some tips on how to protect your pet from scorching heat effects.
▪️ Consider a pet fountain with an add-on reservoir which ensures your pet will have a continual source of fresh water. Many Drinkwell fountains have the option of adding a reservoir.

If you’re away from home during the day, freeze a plastic dish of water overnight, and put it out in the morning. The ice will melt during the day, providing a continual source of cool water.
▪️ With each heat wave, your cat’s body is likely to shed mountains of fur. This is prime hairball season, so take care to groom your cat daily with a brush, deshedding tool or take him/her to a professional groomer.
Signs of a major hairball problem and possible impaction are retching, inability to p**p, diarrhea, loss of appetite or a swollen abdomen. See your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your cat is impacted.
▪️ Keep tabs on your cats & dogs during hot weather, and monitor them for signs of heatstroke. If you believe that your pet is suffering from heat stroke, you must first take immediate measures to cool them down. Move them to a cool area and apply wet cold towels.
▪️Avoid exercising your pets strenuously on extremely hot days. Take walks in the early mornings or evenings, when the sun’s heat is less intense.
▪️ Give your pet a shady spot to hang out on hot days or keep him inside where there’s air-conditioning. Pet houses are not good shelter in the summer because they can trap heat.
▪️ Dogs that are brachycephalic (have a short head and snout), such as Bulldogs, Boxers, Shih Tzus, and Pekingese, have an especially hard time in the heat because they do not pant as efficiently as longer-nosed dogs. Keep them inside with air-conditioning as much as possible.

As we said before, a dog’s prolonged exposure to excessive heat can result to a heatstroke and can be fatal. Heat stroke can cause lasting damage to internal organs and we don't normally find that out until days after.

▪️Onion family, onions & garlic, whether dry, raw or cooked,is particularly toxic to dogs & can cause gastrointestinal irritation & damages the red blood cells

▪️Chocolate - contains a stimulant theobromine which can cause kidney failure
▪️Macadamia Nuts - affects the nervous system of the dog
▪️Artificial sweetener, xylitol containing substances. Can cause hypoglycemia, liver failure & even blood clotting disorders

▪️Alcohol - causes intoxication, diarrhoea, even CNS damage
▪️Grapes & raisins can cause liver & kidney failure
▪️Avocado -persin in the leaves of avocado can cause diarrhoea & vomiting in dogs

▪️Cannabis (ma*****na)- a small amount of cannabis can cause toxicity in cats & dogs as they have more cannabinoid receptors in their brains than humans.
▪️Keep all human food out of reach this season. If your pet ingests any of these, seek veterinary assistance immediately.
