The Healing Power of Horses

In the serene presence of horses, I discover profound healing for my mental health. Engaging with these magnificent creatures compels me to pause, breathe deeply, and find balance in the chaos of life. Each moment spent with them encourages me to regulate my thoughts, grounding me in the present and cultivating a sense of tranquility.

The partnership I forge with these animals instills a sense of purpose in my life. What started as a few hours at a special barn snowballed into a lifelong passion for sharing these incredible creatures with those who could benefit most. This passion has driven me into a world where I am part of something greater than myself, a world where the impossible becomes possible thanks to the help of these majestic animals.

Horses ignited a desire for personal growth that began when I was young and still burns just as brightly decades later. Every interaction becomes an opportunity to learn—about horsemanship, observation, and myself. They challenge me to push beyond my limits, encouraging me to develop new skills with a profound focus on communication and learning.

Finally, the physical aspect of working with horses encourages me to move my body with intention, where exercise is both fulfilling and purposeful. Whether it's barn work, helping riders, or riding, these activities engage both my body and mind, fostering a sense of vitality that enriches my overall well-being.

Moreover, the equestrian community offers a warm embrace of understanding and camaraderie. These individuals are hardworking, intuitive, and empathetic, often sharing similar ups and downs. These connections frequently grow beyond acquaintanceships and blossom into lifelong friendships.

In essence, my journey with horses is not just about teaching or riding; it is a holistic approach to my overall well-being, providing me with breath, community, growth, purpose, and movement. Each encounter with these gentle giants enriches my life, guiding me toward a path of happiness and fulfillment, and I hope to continue sharing the beauty of horses with the world around me.

Thank You to everyone who stopped by yesterday during the Rappahannock County Farm Tour for a visit or to catch one of our demos! We had so much fun showing everyone around, and we hope to welcome some of you back as volunteers or clients, or both!

We'd like to give a shout out to Natalie & Daphne for their performance this past weekend at the ETS obstacle trail ride! The pair earned the top score in the junior division out of 6 riders, and finished 11th overall out of 48 riders!! Way to go girls!
All of our riders & horses did amazing in this event! For most of them it was their first time doing anything like this! We are so proud of all of you! Keep up the hard work!

Plot Your Course for This Weekend's Rappahannock County Farm Tour!

The Rappahannock County Farm Tour is this coming weekend, September 28th & 29th from 11 - 5.

Our county is rural with lots of hills and valleys, and cell signal, GPS and wi-fi can be hard to come by. We highly suggest that you take the time to download this year's Farm Tour map, which can be found on our website.

You can also download driving directions to each farm. The website also features an interactive, online map!

Taking a few minutes to map your course for each day will make for a more enjoyable Farm Tour experience! Also, please note, some of our farms are only open on either Saturday or Sunday.

If you have questions, need directions, or wifi, our Visitors Center is the place to stop. It's conveniently located right off of 211 by the Town of Washington (3 Library Road, Washington, VA). Sandra and Sheila will be happy to assist you with anything you need.
