Small sheep farm in Arlington, Washington. We are a small sheep farm in Arlington, Washington.

We raise North Country Cheviot sheep as well as a few crossbreed sheep for the purpose of lamb production and for working our ABCA Border Collies. Several times a year we host clinics and lessons provided by top handlers from around the world. We also, on a very limited basis, breed ABCA registered Border Collies for farm work and USBCHA/ISDS type herding trials.

UPDATE
We are happy to share she landed in a great home. Thanks everyone who shared this opportunity.

Through no fault of her own, we have a one year old, tri colored, spayed female Border Collie looking for a good pet or performance home. She gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and is respectful of cats. Has not been around small children but loves older kids and people in general. Heather has taken her to BarnHunt classes and while not sure what to think of the rats, she was plenty keen to climb, jump and do all sizes and levels of tunnels. This past week, Joe was up in Canada at the CBCA National Sheepdog Trial held in Kingston, Ontario. He and Jim made it through to the “double lift finals” today and are leaving for home as the “2023 CBCA Champions.” Thank you to everyone that helps put on this trial.

I, Heather, figured I’d try Troy on sheep. I’ve never tried working him before and he’s very biddable. We gathered the field, did some driving then shed till we had these 3. I figured I see how he balances to me and if I wasn’t walking backwards wearing flip flops, the video would be much longer. He’s a marvelous dog to work. There’s no sound as he doesn’t need help finding balance 😊

We have decided to offer a nicely trained 5 1/2 year old Border Collie for sale. Troy is ABCA registered and by Blake (Ron Enzeroth's H**p x Imp Bell) and ICF Badger ( Michael Gallagher's Cap x Joe's Elfa Kelly (Keally)). Joe has been running Troy in pronovice where he has done well and is ready to make the move into open. However, Joe has 3 open dogs so Troy is looking for a new partner.

Troy does get along well with other dogs, cats and older children. He is also fine working around horses. He would be suitable for farm chores as well as a trial dog. Please PM for price, pedigree, videos and more information.

Puppies did great at their health exam. All boys have their “bits” and puppies all healthy. These are the three we have left (tri is a girl).

ABCA registered puppies still available out of Troy x Jill. Tri colors and black/white.

Really nice dogs behind both pedigrees. Jill is CEA/IGS/TNS “clear” and Troy is CEA/TNS “clear,” IGS “carrier.” Can leave for their new homes in two weeks. PM for more information.

Excited to announced that we have 9 beautiful puppies out of L&M Jill (same way bred as Joe’s Pepper who won Soldier Hollow in 2021) and PCF Troy (Blake and ICF Badger). There are tri colors and black/white rough coated males and females available. Puppies to be registered with the ABCA. PM for more information.

Joe and Jim were 1st Flat Field and 2nd on the Hill field on Saturday. Joe and Davey were 6th on the Hill field Saturday and 3rd on the Flat field Sunday.

For a long time now, people have been asking for opportunities to work dogs with Joe. Starting October 29th, every Saturday and Sunday at 9am, Joe will be offering a “behind the curtains” look for those wanting to learn more about training and trialing with their Border Collies. You will come and participate in one of Joe’s dog training sessions by working your dogs and also observe Joe train some of his own dogs using those same methods and answering any questions you have.

Concepts covered will be all aspects of working a dog whether it’s preparing for a dog trial, competitive strategy, reading sheep or work at hand (shed, pen, single), etc. Dogs will work a minimum of two times. Book your dates early as this is offered on a first come, first serve basis for $145/session. Sessions will usually last 2-3 hours. Due to time, sessions will be limited to 2 dogs per handler and 3 handlers a day.

Headed home from another good time at the Soldier Hollow Classic. We appreciate being asked again to attend this wonderful sheepdog trial. While we didn’t get the results we wanted, it was great to see our friends again and get caught up. The hospitality from the Soldier Hollow group of volunteers was amazing from the food and beverages all day long in the handlers area to the great buffet dinner.

It was a great reminder of how difficult a challenge it was to win the championship here last year with Pepper. Hope to be invited back. Congratulations to all that made the double lift and to those that will soon be on that podium.

We sorted and wormed lambs last night to haul to Sue McLean in Dayton. These are all by a ram we bought from Dee Samson a few years ago and our predominately North Country ewes. These are easily the best lambs we’ve had in 20 years.
