9 times out of 10 when I enter a new clients home. The dog jumps up on me and the client yells Noooo Donโt do that!!! I know I did my job when I leave a mentally tired dog because they had to use their brain. And as I walk out the door I hear the client saying Yes!!! ๐
Crate Training a Boston Terrier
Combining obedience cues Look, Sit, Stay, Come, and Heel to go over Crate Training with a solid Stay!
Remember to mark the correct behavior with Yes!
The best order to teach these 6 obedience cues- Look โ Is the most important Cue. Dogs are mostly visual communicators. They need to see you and your visual Cue for the best results. Sit โ Is the foundation. A sitting dog isnโt jumping, leash pulling, or any other unwanted behavior. When you have unwanted behavior use SIT. LAY โ Is the most stationary cue. It can help with calming a dog down and it helps with the next cue Stay Stay โ Is a handy cue for when you need them to stay in a position. Combine it with Lay for best results. Come โ Is Recall. This cue is extremely important when you need your dog to leave a distraction or danger and come to you. Heel โ This is the best position for loose leash walking. They need to be beside you facing the same direction. The goal is to use Look to get them to keep checking in with you during walks and then looking ahead to see any obstacles. You should be doing the same. Constantly Looking at each other then looking ahead. Before they get too far ahead and pull leash Use SIT to stop them so you can get to Heel position and continue the walk without missing a beat.
