Happy Friday! We have the BEST news! For those of you who know our amazing technician, Rachele, you know that she lost her beloved Jilly Bean on January 3rd in Kyle. Jilly seemed to have vanished into thin air. After all the heartbreak, scammers, searches (including a drone search!), passing out flyers and contacting every veterinary clinic in central Texas, it seemed like we would never see her again.

Yesterday (February 20th) at 5pm, Rachele got a call from Jilly's microchip company. Somebody found her!! They took her into a nearby clinic to have her scanned. 🙏🙏🙏 Her collar was missing so this would have been the only way to identify her. Through tears of joy and disbelief, we made it to her in 15 minutes! She was in North Austin, so close to us. Despite a skin infection and being exhausted, she seems fine. It truly is a miracle. 🎉 We are so happy for Rachele and couldn't wait to share this amazing news with everybody. 🥰🐕🐾

Merry Christmas from Far West Vet! Thank you to all of our sweet clients who took care of us during the past month. We received so many gifts, treats, donuts, Whataburger, pizza, breakfast tacos and more. Not to mention, thank you for letting us take care of and cuddle your babies all year 😻. We truly appreciate your kindness and understanding while we navigate a new normal after such a great loss of our beloved technician, Shelly. Thank you for sending us so many gifts and really making us feel special.

Reminder that we are closed the rest of the week so our staff can spend precious time with their families for the holidays. We will see y'all on December 30th! Happy holidays! 😻♥️🎄🐕

Last Thursday, we unexpectedly lost one of the most beautiful, kind souls that you could ever meet. Shelly was an absolute joy and light in this world, and Far West Veterinary Clinic was so lucky to have her. Shelly would give the shirt off her back to help anybody in need. She came in to work on her days off just because she enjoyed staying busy, lending an extra hand and being with her people. Her tremendous heart extended out to animals and she cared for everyone's pets as if they were her own. This is a tragic loss for us all and still a bit of a shock. We are a close-knit group here and this has affected us not only at work, but in our personal lives as well. We appreciate all of the heartfelt messages we have received and are doing our best to continue on as she would have wanted, to honor her memory. Shelly, we will miss your sweet smile, your corny dad jokes, your gentleness with our patients and your hard-working spirit. Far West Vet is just not the same without you. 💔 If anyone has any special memories they would like to share, please feel free to do so in the comments. Far West Vet wouldn't be where we are today without our amazing technicians. They are the most caring and hard working group around. Our techs are so committed to their passion, that they even come in on their days off (without being asked) just to help when it is busy! They truly are wonderful. Being a veterinary technician is back-breaking work and they go home exhausted every, single day. But they are still back the next day with a smile, ready to care for our patients. Thank you to Rachele and Brandy, who have been with us from the very beginning (before we even opened our doors!), and to Caroline, Hailey, Danielle, Mary, Shelly, Aaron and Jillian who followed soon after. We have been lucky to always have had amazing technicians throughout the years, but this team is truly special. Happy Veterinary Technician week! 🥳🐕😻
