What you need to know:
TRIAL PERIOD>
We offer a 14 day trial period with any of our horses
How does that work?
When you purchase one of our horses, out of state or not, you have 14 days to notify us that you wish to return your horse for any reason. Yes, for ANY REASON. As long as you notify us by email, text or phone call within 14 days from the date of purchase (which will all be in contract). If you decide to return the horse & you gave us proper notification then you can return your horse at any time, yes anytime, return doesn’t have to happen within the 14 days, so long as we are notified within those 14 days.
If this does happen, you are allowed to return your horse for an exchange horse only. A horse of equal or lesser price tag, if the horse you wish to exchange for is higher, then the amount you paid for your horse will be credited and you'll have to pay the difference.
What does that mean?
We don’t do refunds but we will exchange your horse. So although there will be no refunds, you’re not stuck with a horse that’s not a good fit for you.
HAULING>
we are happy to help arrange hauling anywhere but buyer is responsible for cost of ALL hauling. If we can’t do the hauling ourselves, we do have some great haulers with very competitive rates, & we’ve been working with these particular haulers for years! We trust them, & their care of the horses, as well as their driving skills with our precious cargo! We are picky about who handles/hauls our horses, as we care for them far too much to just send off with anyone that has a drivers license! Just cause you have a license, doesn’t mean you know how to drive with horses! If you decide to hire a hauler, that’s fine. Just PLEASE make sure they are very reputable & check multiple references/ look into reviews!
VISITING>
you are more than welcome to visit our farm here in Ava, Missouri to try/ meet any of our horses in person. If you can’t, we do sell to folks all over the world, even international. That is also another reason we offer the trial period because we know not everyone can make the trip to Ava Missouri but we are happy to have you & do encourage a visit if you can manage it.
Please call, email or text us to schedule your visit. Just no visits on Sundays please, as Sunday is our day of rest and most importantly the Lords day! We will be in church.... we will be happy to meet you at Ava southern Baptist church @ 945 am.
LODGING >
There is a motel 8 with 6 miles of our farm here in Ava but there are far more hotels to choose from in Springfield or Branson Missouri, which are both about an hour drive from our farm, give or take a few minutes.
PRE- PURCHASE EXAM>
We are happy to help arrange this if you like. But buyer will be responsible for all associated cost/paying vet & any hauling cost or farm call visit cost.
PAYMENT>
CASH, CREDIT CARD, CHECKS OR BANK WIRE
We prefer cash, & offer a 5% cash discount if you pay in full with cash (this applies to CASH payment only) not check, not money orders, not bank wires, cash only!
Despite that we do accept check and credit card, or bank wire for those buying out of state. For credit card purchases, there will be a 4% credit card fee applied.
HOLD A HORSE> that’s fine, we don’t mind as long as you put a minimum of 10% down. This does apply to your purchase price. Deposits are non refundable but they are TRANSFERABLE if you should change your mind for any reason.
LESSONS>
Want to learn to ride or drive?
Come learn with us. We are also happy to give you lessons with any of the horses you may be interested in purchasing! That’s right, learn with a horse you’re interested in purchasing! This will give you a really good idea if the horse & yourself will work good together.
If your local, lessons at your location with a horse purchased from us can be arranged. That’s correct, if you purchased your horse from us, we will be happy to give you lessons with that horse at your location. However, We may ask you to cover the cost of travel. But as a thank you and to ensure a successful partnership/ smooth transition after purchase, You'll get 2 complimentary lessons at your location, depending on location/ miles of travel.
❤️It is VERY important to us that you have a great partnership with the horse you purchase from us here at R&F trail and buggy horses ! Our horses are not only our source of livelihood for us, they are our lifestyle, our passion but more importantly they become part of us and we want you to love and enjoy them as much as we have! We want to see our horses fulfill the plan and adventures you want with your equine partner! We want our horses to make that goal and dream a success for you. In turn, we want a wonderful, safe home for our horses where they will be well taken care of/ their needs met but also where their training/skills will be enjoyed for many years & not go to waste!
TACK, EQUIPMENT OR HARNESS >
Need a saddle, bridle, bit, buggy or harness for your horse? We got you covered! We always have good saddle’s & equipment in stock & if you want to purchase a harness, we have plenty. We will even make sure everything is fitted and ready to use on your horse!
COMMON QUESTIONS>
WHERE DO WE GET OUR HORSES?
There is not a particular place or person.
We do have a few farms we go directly to and have dealt with for years but really, we just do our best to look for kind, sound, well minded horses that love to be with people.
HOW LONG DO WE HAVE OUR HORSES?
Generally we like to have our horses a minimum of 3-4 months getting to know them, handling them daily, testing them under different circumstances, different locations, etc....but often we might keep them around much longer using them for trail rides, lessons - riding & driving, and pleasure drive them as often as we can. We DO NOT flip them as fast as possible like many often do. Some sellers ride and drive them once, maybe twice and will swear that they are family safe, grandma safe, ect.... it takes more then one interview to know that! And we fully intend to know our horses very well before we want them to move on, so hopefully they will have a forever home when they leave!
DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN TACK?
Only if you want to, otherwise we have plenty here.
Helmet: If you like riding in a helmet, please bring it. We also have helmets.
Riding apparel: Please wear proper riding apparel; jeans, boots, etc... If it's hot, bring a hat and water. If your doing a lesson maybe a snack as well.
Trailering; If you’re coming in with a trailer, please let us know so we can instruct you where to pull in/ turn around.
