Robert Earl Parker, 75, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Wednesday November 29, 2023. He was born on September 15, 1948, in Yazoo Mississippi, to the late Morris Parker Sr. and Helen Myers Parker.
Robert Earl attended Port Huron High School where he was on the football and wrestling team. He was well known for his boxing skills, winning many fights by knockouts, including a Golden Glove Championship in Flint, Michigan. An all-around sports fan, Robert Earl loved watching football on TV in his favorite leather recliner. Also, he was a tennis fan and enjoyed watching Coco, Venus, and Serena.
In 1998, Robert Earl moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he was employed at Cummins Inc., which he retired from. Wanting to keep busy, he came out of retirement and gained employment with FedEx, a job he enjoyed except on those cold Tennessee days. While retired he started his own lawn care business, Robert Earl loved working in the yard. It was in Memphis where he met the love of his life, his wife Diane, which he adored with all his heart, until her time to be with the Lord on August 14, 2021. He was also a faithful church member of Mason Church of Christ in Mason, Tennessee.
Robert Earl is survived by his children; sons, Daniel Bell of Port Huron, and Earl Lamonte Stark of Detroit; daughters, Farrah Jackson of Detroit, and Joi (John) Russell of Port Huron; brothers, Donald Ray Parker of Port Huron, and Morris Parker Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Marlene McGhee, also from Memphis; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends, who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Haskins; grandson, Larry “Stink” Haskins; siblings, Frankie “Betty Mae” Anderson, Albert “AD” Miles and Josephine Starling; aunts, Adlean Beavers, Mary Rankin, and Ruby Doby; uncles, Herman Myers, Willie Myers, and James Myers; and beloved grandmother, Lettie Myers.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 1:00pm in the Jowett Funeral Home - 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron. Reverend Loretta Hazely will officiate.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm (noon) until the time of service at 1:00pm.
