Sweet and happy Aurora is still on the lookout for her forever home!
Her sister, Freya, has been placed in foster. Now it's this girl's turn!
Aurora is a boisterous and happy girl! As you can see in the video she is ALL wiggles.
She loves attention (and treats!). We've been working on basic manners since she's been here, but it's hard to concentrate when there's so many other fun things to focus on!
Aurora is a petite little girl! She is only around 20-25 pounds and at 8-9 months old she's not expected to get any larger. We think she's the perfect size for a companion! Small enough so that she's easy to load up for adventures, but large enough that she can keep up with you during the adventure!
We're in love with her adorable little puppy-face!
She's dog tested well with other dogs that can handle her playful energy.

Handsome Forest is still with us.
Despite being a small, rural shelter in WV, we are lucky enough to have "no kill" numbers. Which means we rarely euthanize, and when we do its only due to major behavioral or medical issues.
In spite of that, our boy Forest has narrowly escaped the "red list" a couple times since his stay with us.
Awhile back Forest became increasingly depressed and was exhibiting very concerning signs of kennel stress. It happens when dogs spend a lot of time cooped up in a cage, especially an energetic boy like Forest. We diligently worked with him and came up with a care plan that slightly improved his quality of life so that he could stay with us awhile longer. Unfortunately it seems that it's coming to the point where, once again, we are being forced to examine his quality of life while in our care. We are very small with limited staffing and resources. We do the best we can to provide the physical and mental enrichment our animals need, sometimes at the personal time and expenses of our staff members. Nothing changes the fact that our dogs live in cages. Even dogs with the most sound dispositions will begin to deteriorate after living in a kennel environment for so long.
You can see in the video that Forest is such a happy and playful fella with people he loves and trusts! He loves to play fetch and is very food motivated! He is super eager to please and SO smart! However, Forest doesn't show well and takes some time to warm up to new people (especially men). The longer he has been with us, he has developed some barrier reactivity issues. He hasn't always tested well with other dogs, but we believe the majority of his issues are due to the stressful and noisy kennel environment.
Forest was found as a stray in a rural part of our county, and it's easy to guess that he likely wasn't well socialized. Life for undersocialized dogs can be scary!
Forest is in need of a rescue, or special adopter, that is understanding and can offer lots
🚨🚨🚨Please be on the lookout!
A dog escaped from a car accident in the 7000 block of Winchester Grade Road.
She is described as a medium-sized mixed breed dog that is mainly black with a white chest. A good samaritan was able to secure her sister.
The missing dog is very scared. If you see her DO NOT chase or call out to her. Please contact us with any sightings.
You can call 304-258-6363 and leave a VM with any sightings.
Thanks everyone for your concern for the gray and white stray pitbull that we took to the ER vet on Thursday. She is doing much better since she's started her meds. We have located the owners and they chose to surrender.
She needs a 501c3 rescue pull, as she needs further medical care. Due to her medical needs, she is NOT available for adoption from our facility.
She is a 2-3 year old spayed female. She is exceptionally sweet. She has been super loving toward all people, and was very tolerant at the ER vet. She reportedly does well with male dogs, but doesn't tolerate female dogs.

Elvis is still looking for a savvy adopter or rescue commitment!
Elvis is fearful when meeting new people, but he warms up pretty quickly.
Once he warms up he's a goofy, lovable, playful boy! He is super food motivated.
This handsome boy is neutered and microchipped. He needs UTD on his vaccines.
If you're with a rescue that can help, or an expirienced adopter, please let us know!

Update: Nunu has been transferred to rescue!
Our sweet girl Nunu has made loads of progress here at our shelter.
She loves all of our staff and is SO affectionate. Nunu is still looking for a rescue commitment with a savvy foster home that can help work on her confidence.
Here's what we've learned about Nunu since she's been with us:
👉 She is a TOTAL princess.
👉 She likes hoarding stuffies and loves soft blankets.
👉 She is SPOILED, and has us wrapped around her paw! She will only eat soft food (and chicken)!
👉 She's picky about the treats she likes, but she needs a Milkbone at dinner time every day.
👉 She doesn't like bossy dogs and would need very slow proper introductions with any other dogs. (Although she would probably prefer to be the only princess in the 🏰)
👉 She is totally potty trained, leash trained, and doesn't even bark in her kennel!
We seriously love this sweet girl. If you're with a rescue that can take her on, please call our office at 304-258-6363 or email [email protected].
Thank you!
