ATTENTION:
To my WV and potential WV and KY clients:
After a visit with Virginia Conservation on Friday and being educated extensively by the lovely officers on information that I did not know and failed to educate myself on since moving to Virginia, I wanted to bring to attention on the potential possibility of transmitting CWD with intact skulls of your trophies.
There is a special way of processing your trophy before bringing it to me:
The skull MUST be skinned out from the cape. There is to be NO EYES, BRAIN MATTER, or SPINAL CORD to be left in the skull.
The skull cap with the antlers will suffice! It just HAS to be cleaned thoroughly of brain matter and membranes.
If you do not feel comfortable doing so, please let me know ahead of time so I can come to you and do it properly and have a DNR officer okay it before I can transport it with the proper paperwork and information.
To my current clients, I want to extend my deepest apologies for failing you as a taxidermist for not educating you or being educated myself on this matter. This will not happen again.
