Black Dog Veterinary Services has always been a dream of Dr. Amy Kafer’s. Since she graduated vet school, she has wanted to create a place where pets are treated like family (and their people are too!).
The name, Black Dog, comes from 2 very special dogs that Dr. Amy has owned. One, a brown Aussie/Border Collie mix named “Cody” was also known jokingly in the house as “Brown Dog”. The other, a Border Collie named “Doc” was the “Black Dog”. Both dogs were very important to Dr. Amy and she decided that their “other names” would be great for businesses some day. To those who knew Doc, he was an outgoing guy who loved everyone, so Dr. Amy decided to call her vet clinic Black Dog Veterinary Services, after Doc. Cody, the Brown Dog, was very fond of beer (she would steal your bottles if you weren’t watching!) so Dr. Amy has decided to reserve Brown Dog for a brewery or something like that (if she can convince her husband to give up his day job and start brewing beer full-time rather than doing it as a hobby).
Black Dog Veterinary Services is a veterinary practice providing exams, vaccinations, acupuncture, chiropractic care and pain management/hospice services. All employees pride themselves in caring for the patient and working with their owners to develop a reasonable plan of action for each INDIVIDUAL. We offer in-house bloodwork, digital radiographs, ultrasounds and work closely with specialists to provide a well-rounded approach to your pet’s care.
