I have formed my own business, "Loose Leash Dog Training”, as a school for service dogs and therapy dogs, the first of its kind in this area. As a therapy dog team we have six AKC titles in therapy work and close to 1500 hours of service. We are certified in therapy work by the SPCA Serving Erie County Paws For Love Program. Margo, Bentley, and I have put in 100 visits to the VA Medical Center in

Buffalo prior to establishing Loose Leash Dog Training. All of us are very devoted team with a mission to help the sick, comfort the dying, be of service to sick veterans, and now training service dogs for them. Brody, my oldest boxer, and I worked in a school for autistic children for two years and it was one of the greatest experiences I had doing therapy work. I am a member of International Association of Canine Professionals and have my professional status which took seven years of dog training and working with dogs to achieve. I am a AKC evaluator and certified to give classes in all levels of this program. I have trained numerous handlers and dogs in my handling classes that have gone on to receive their certification in therapy work with the SPCA. We compete in agility, CPE and NADAC, UKC and AKC Rally and Obedience. I have done presentations as a trainer on therapy dog work, the effects a dog has on patients and staff, and information on training. These presentations were at the University of Buffalo, Niagara University, and with nursing students across this area. The power of a dogs nose always fascinated me and just recently I have been doing explosives searches with Ben and Margo. Thanks to Don Lent for giving me tips on this type of training which has been a lot of work for all of us. Also in the works, I am waiting for word on training with Homeland Security Buffalo Explosive Detection K9 Unit in order to learn more about explosive searches and would love to have this lead to something more. We are very active with classes and training. Home base for training is at All Dawgs Academy in North Tonawanda. I am very excited about what is going on and have a lot of things planned down the road. Thank you to all the people that have supported me in this move and I am very grateful to you all.

Congrats to Dan and Pongo for passing their CGCA last night. This was a large class working in the public most of them were veterans and for some it was their first time out in a mall. Scent classes some of the dogs doing scent classes at Pawsitive for Heroes service dog school. Classes are expanding Monday afternoon classes also opening up more evening classes right after Labor Day. Come join us get your dog working and have some fun. Veterans with service dogs are welcome get your dogs out get them thinking.

Busy night closed out two classes testing out CGC and trick dog. All new classes start next week. Congrats to everyone that passed great work and building confidence in yourself and your dog. Know most are moving on with more obedience and agility. Great to see more boxers got the black one big boy and goes like hell. 😊

Busy night in the advanced handling class they worked on a lot today different skill sets. A lot of proofing while healing using a loud fan and all kinds of food as the handlers leave their dogs. The next A class is full that’s in Sept. I just opened another CGC class and A class contact me here if interested.

Just finished up two 6 week classes of nosework and some classes are in a middle of sessions. Some of the dogs working through the six weeks learning and handlers working with their dogs. More classes are available Mondays are 12:00 and 1:15. Evening classes are on Wed nights starting at 6:30. I will be expanding these classes when needed. Get out bond with your dog have some fun but also learn about a great sport.

Last night we were out with newer dogs that haven’t seen a lot of exposer in a store this size. What’s going on is both the handler and dog can be nervous in an environment like this. As the handlers learn to shop with their service dogs it is a challenge for both. They did great thanks Chris for coming out and helping. Pawsitive for Heroes

The CGC class on Monday night Aug 12th is full. The next class will be on Monday September 30th. I will now open another night for CGC class and also a day class since this class fills so fast. I will be posting a all new class schedules up on this page also on my Superior nosework page on FB. Including in the new classes will be puppy classes, new CGC classes,fun agility and nosework classes day and evening. All classes are at the Pawsitive for Heroes service dog school.
The fun agility class running now is full and has been so I will open another one up it could be during the day.

Some of the dogs working in last nights classes. This class we just finished the first six weeks improving every week. People asking about classes more classes will be available days and evenings. Monday nights CGC class forth week in and are going great. All young dogs in this class everyone learning as we heel the dogs around each other.

Service dog training last night I ran two classes back to back. A number of new dogs starting public training. Also refresher training for some total dogs were nine dogs working everyone learning. We worked in a dog friendly place but the their were a number of bad dogs coming in and out we worked around. Always be aware what is around you.

Did a number of runs this morning before it got to hot. Nosework classes are going on now I have three classes that have just started the past month. All flexible times days nights and mornings. Scent class last night at the Pawsitive for Heroes service dog school. This is a one of the newer classes running. Get out work your dog and have some fun also a great way to bond and learn a new sport. We have day classes running and evening classes also class size is limited to the number of dogs in each class. EC Sheriffs K9 Artemis working vehicle search’s the other day. I did post more searches on my superior nose work page on FB of her working inside the building. Just send a request for an add to the page. A lot of questions come in about her and her job she preforms and with her training we work on. Thanks to everyone that wanted to be added,over twenty new people have joined the page. Remember nosework classes (sport) have started at the Pawsitive for Heroes service dog school. Running two full classes right now. More day and evening classes will be offered.

A number of larger breed working dogs training agility. All fast dogs and very smart the handlers learning how handle them through the agility ring. It takes time and work to run as a team. Cindy running Tegan last night fast and he can jump. Super job as you both continue to move forward. 😊👍

Nosework classes will start on Wed June 5th at 6:00. These classes are for the SPORT of Nosework starting with the introduction of odor. These classes run six weeks they take place at the Pawsitive for Heroes service dog school. I anticipate these classes to fill fast if interested contact me here. More exciting news pertaining nosework. January of this year I applied for host club with C-Wags . I’ll be bringing into this area a lot of exciting things with this venue. Totally new to this area and now they have a new host club in Erie Pa. Most of all will be scent trials and plan on having local trials only. Next I applied for being a scent judge with C-Wags and I was approved in March as a scent work judge in all levels. Planning now is host our first trial in this area. I need to assemble a team as part of their rules so that is in the process. It was not easy to become a judge with this org . My experience in nosework is what their scent team liked, but also passing an 80 question test and drawing my own examples of course maps at every level I applied for according to their rules. I am very happy that this finally worked out. As I was totally jerked around by AKC and CPE when I applied to become a judge. I went down to watch a trial and it was so different than AKC, CPE. This page will be very active now with everything going on . Thanks to all my students and scent friends that encouraged me to pursue this as CPE and AKC totally wore me out. But I am not done with them yet.

Carolyn working her young golden Orliath starting with the serp we did include a wrap and continued on. She is going to be a fast dog with a lot of energy to run. You always keep your head up and work your dog No matter what others say. You have to consider the source take it from me.
