Jack would like you to know he is a ✨man of culture✨.

In the short time he’s been a CBAS resident, this refined gentleman 🎩 has already experienced the 🌟 lights and glamour 🌟of Shea's Performing Arts Center’s marquee💡, as well as our Buffalo Theatre District 🦬🎭 Walk of Fame – where he earned his own Good Boy Star! 🤩 (check out the 2nd pic! 📸)

With his creamy white and tan wrinkles, we also can’t help but feel that Jack looks a lot like an almond croissant 🥐 dusted with powdered sugar. To that point, a CBAS volunteer recently spoke French 🇫🇷 with Jack and he *seemed* like he might have understood (although the string cheese 🧀 in her hand may have had something to do with it 🤪). But any way you slice it, this scrumptious pastry 🥮 of a pooch is as refined and worldly 🌍 as they come 🤩.

Jack knows sit, takes treats gently, and has the extra sophisticated trait of doing #2 💩 exclusively in bushes 😅. He has passed his initial assessment with other dogs, but his feelings on feline friends are unknown at this time.

For this week's , we'd like to thank our friends at Soma Cura Wellness Center for hosting a successful cat 🐈 yoga event for us last weekend! They raised $350 for Friends of CBAS, and one of our sweet kitties was even adopted by an attendee! 🎉

Looking for a new yoga buddy? We are chock-full of potential new feline friends! We even have adoptable cats in the overflow kennels in our lobby 🥺. Stop by and meet them anytime the shelter is open, no appointments needed!😻 Or, after hours you can meet even more CBAS cuties at Pet Supplies Plus - Buffalo, NY, PetSmart and Daisy's Doghouse

Jolie, French 🇫🇷 for “pretty”, is a bulldog who is living up to her name – both inside and out! 🥰

This girl is a peanut 🥜 who could trick you into thinking 🤔 she is a puppy, but she is a 3 year old with a small build – weighing about 30 lbs.

Jolie is down to snuggle 🤗 and enjoys the company of humans very much. She has manners when walking on a leash, and knows basic commands. 👏 She is a bit picky when it comes to dog friends 🐶 but is cool as a cucumber 🥒 when she sees them out and about. She’s not looking for any trouble, but would prefer not to join in on the reindeer 🦌 games.

She missed her appointment to see the orthodontist 🦷 but we have reassured her that her underbite is adorable ☺️ , and may very well be the feature that makes her stand out 🤩 and get adopted!

Jolie the pretty girl is ready to peace out ✌️ from shelter life and curl up comfy in a home 🏡 of her own. Come see her at the shelter anytime we are open – including today from 9-3!

Feast your 👀 eyes on Walter, the three-month-old American Bully puppy who’s giving off major kiss 💋 my face vibes.
Sure, we’re not sure if “Walter” lands on the Good Dogs, Questionable Names list, but let’s be honest—this floppy-eared, slushy -faced, jowly little nugget is going to grow into his name and his face, and it’ll be spectacular😎💕.

Walter is everything you want in a puppy: sweet, silly, and oh-so-adorable. He’s already making friends with the other dogs 🐶 here (cats remain a mystery), but what he’s really looking for is 🫵🏻you.
We are looking for a loving family who understands that puppies aren’t all cuddles and cuteness—they’re also lots of work. But the reward? A lifetime of unconditional love and loyalty.

This gray-and-white marshmallow of a pup shouldn’t have to wait long, so come down to the shelter during open hours to meet him.
Walter’s already practicing his “adopt me” face—it’s basically irresistible. It’s also just his normal amazing face 👏Don’t let this future beefcake pass you by! come on down to the shelter tomorrow - we open at 9 AM😁

Wilma is the ✨Shar Pei✨ you have been looking for!

Wilma’s face has more folds than a pile of freshly laundered 🧺 sheets, and each wrinkle tells a story 📖 —most likely about snacks 🦴she’s sniffed out 🤣. This two-year-old brindle beauty has perfected the art of wiggling, snorting, and stealing hearts 💕 with all our CBAS volunteers. 🤩

You see, Wilma is the total package: she knows how to sit, takes treats like a true lady, and her brindle coat paired with her squishy, expressive face 😁 makes her a head-turner. Add in her goofy, lovable personality, and she’s absolutely irresistible. 🥰

Wilma passed her dog assessment and she is she’s ready to make some doggy friends 🐶. However, her feelings toward cats 🐈 are still a mystery 🧙‍♂️-(probably because she hasn’t had time in her busy schedule with the volunteers to meet a kitty yet).

A heads-up: Wilma comes with a food waiver due to some guarding around high-value treats 🦴 during her shelter evaluation. This could be linked to her time as a stray or just the stress of shelter life. Often, with structured meals 🍽️, clear boundaries, and a secure home 🏡 environment, this kind of behavior improves or disappears. We want her future family to be aware so they can set her up for success—especially if young kids are involved.

If you’re looking for a partner to sniff every 🌳 and blade of grass in your neighborhood, Wilma is your girl. She walks like a dream 😍 on a leash and keeps pace with you anytime she isn’t sniffing 👃. Her favorite hobby is leisurely sniffing her way through life, and she’d love a family to call her own. Come meet this wonderful wrinkly wiggle-butt today – CBAS is open until 3PM! 🥳

Clearly named for those remarkable ears 👂 this fella has the high capacity for empathy that we know from the famous character 🥹. He’s a sweet gentle soul 🥰, and though his body bears some scars and a too-thin physique 😔, after just a few minutes with him you’ll see that he hasn’t been jaded by his past. He wants nothing more than to give and receive love. 💕

🍌💛Hannah Banana Fo Fan A Fi Fo ... Oh you get where we are going with this- let’s cut to the chase and just find this sweet girl a home 🏡

Hannah is a two-year-old cutie and is as petite as can be, with everything in miniature… except those big, adorable ears! Hannah loves nothing more than chasing her toys 🥎around the yard and then hopping up on the bench for some quality snuggle 🥰 time and all the butt scratches you can give.

She’s a playful, gentle girl who passed her dog assessment with both male and female dogs. We’re still figuring out if she’d like a feline 🐈friend, but one thing’s for sure—she’s ready to find herself a loving family!

Hot cocoa ☕️ season is here and so is Gio 🐾: the canine embodiment of the beloved beverage. 🥰

He is sweet, loving, and best enjoyed cozied 🤗 up under a blanket. This young pittie mix is estimated to be about 2 years old, and around 50 lbs with a long, lanky build. He could stand to bulk up 💪 a bit, and is known to offer that million dollar smile 😁 when he sees a treat! Don’t worry- the excitement doesn’t extend to human fingers. 👏 Gio already knows basic commands and walks nicely on a leash. ☺️

Gio has done well playing with other dogs 🐶 at the shelter, but an introduction is required with resident dogs 🐶 so we can ensure they can happily cohabitate. Gio’s feelings towards cats 🐈 are yet to be determined. We can’t wait to see this sweet boy in a home 🏠 of his own! Come meet him at CBAS anytime during open hours.

Hey true crime fans! 👋
We’ve got a case 🕵️‍♂️ for you: Norbert and the missing ears!

This pocket pittie is described as small but mighty 💪. He has a love of fetch 🎾, a zest 🍋 for life, and a favorable opinion of that lap dog life. 🥰 Essentislly, he is supreme ✨ young dog energy ✨ in a petite package. 📦

Although he lacks the shape, he possesses the spirit of a hungry hungry hippo 🦛 and is working on managing that need to chomp. 🤭 Like all of our adoptable dogs, he comes sponsored with training funds to help set him up for success!

Norbert would love a home 🏡 of his own, where he can zoom 🏎️ to his hearts content, and then lounge on the couch 🛋️ (or his humans’ lap). He passed his initial assessment with other dogs, but bring your resident pup along so we can ensure they get along well. Has far as we know, he hasn’t interacted with any cats 🐈 yet. Come meet Norbert, and see if he will actually show you he has ✌️ ears anytime during open hours!

If you think bigger is better, then Eugene is your guy! This gorgeous young adult brindle mastiff is bringing his big jowls, bigger head, and melt-your-heart ❤️eyes to Team CBAS, and we are absolutely here 👏for 👏it.

Eugene might be the size of a giant, but don’t let his size fool you—he’s a true gentleman on a leash, strolling 🚶‍♀️ along without any hint of pulling you down the street. He’s passed his dog assessment - though we’re still waiting to see how he feels about the feline 🐈crowd.

Freckles are often called “kisses from the sun” ☀️ and Freckles the dog has been kissed 😘 MANY times. Those kisses must have poured in some love 💕 because this girl sure is sweet.

Freckles falls on the timid side of the doggy spectrum, but finds comfort in a snuggle 🤗 with her human. With some patience, and the reassurance of a human friend by her side she is ready to shine ☀️ like the sun-kissed babe she is. Addy had a sleepover 💖🐕💖 this weekend while her foster dad was away and absolutely loved it!
She fit in immediately and it was like she lived there her whole life. 🤗
She loved sleeping in bed with her little girl and ignored the cat 🐈‍⬛ in the home, just watched him do his thing with little interest.
Our experienced fosters know that dogs 🐶 need time 🐶 to get used to each other so in just one night she didn’t get to play with the young pitty in the house 🏡 but you can see the absolutely adorable tap dancing 💃 they were doing through the crate-a sure sign that she wanted to play!!! Check out the video in the comments 🥹.
Addy has been with us since 8/28 and has gained 15 pounds and had a huge improvement in her skin, we believe it is a simple food allergy, so no chicken or beef but she has no problem munching everything else she’s offered.
We are doing a BIG push for this angel 👼 to get adopted or for a rescue to see her and take her in.
She’s about 4 years old, 65 pounds and pure chill magic 🪄

The FAM Foundation 🚒(Firefighter Arno Memorial) was launched this year in memory of and to honor fallen Firefighter Jason Arno. FAM “provides resources, financial support, and opportunities for WNY first responders and their families by fundraising and increasing community awareness of their daily efforts.”

CBAS was honored to be invited to and asked to bring some adoptable dogs 🐕 this past summer to FAM’s very first gathering. And it was at this event where our next edition of originated from.

Katie writes:

“We met Will at my brother Jason’s first annual FAM event and instantly fell in love. We would walk away and then have to go back to see him because he was just so sweet and just velcro-ed to us which we thought was absolutely adorable 🥺. At first, our apartment complex told us that we couldn’t have him and I was devastated (I seriously cried), but then we worked it out with them and were able to adopt him!!!

We have now had him almost 3 months and he is the sweetest boy! He is settling in very nicely. He sleeps right next to my bed and snores at night which is hilariously adorable. Will loves walkies, cuddles, sunbathing, sleeping, going for car rides, chewing and playing with his bones, and he LOVES food 😄.

Everyone who meets him says he is a beautiful good boy and he really is. He is improving with time and training with crating and leash work, too. Will is a very sweet boy and a great addition to our family.”

It’s amazing how a shelter dog, with all their unique charms, can bring so much comfort and joy to his person. Will will now have a charmed life in return ❤️

It's cuffing season and we know you don't need a reason to want a big boy! But, we can give you some anyway 🤪

Big boy Bruno is an absolute hunk 🕺of a dog and many of our volunteers have fallen hard for this dreamboat. Bruno is like many dogs at CBAS that were once a beloved family pet and are now confused and overwhelmed in the shelter environment. If you've walked through the shelter and have seen Bruno in his kennel, we wouldn't blame you for deciding to walk right on by 🫣. He has absolutely perfected the art of kennel parkour! 🦘🦘

But, once out of his kennel and given a few minutes to settle down, you get to meet the "real" Bruno- which is a sweet, snuggly 😍boy with a chiller disposition! Bruno has sold himself well at our off-site adoption events by behaving well with children and giving lots of kisses 😘. But sadly, he's still available for adoption and every day there he is more and more stressed.

Let's make sure Bruno doesn't have to parkour around his kennel much longer. He appears housebroken, walks pretty well on leash, and loves car 🚗rides! Come to meet this special guy and give him a chance to show his true colors!
