Did you know that puppies are born blind, deaf, and without teeth? Their eyes don’t open until they are 14 to 21 days old, and their vision is still limited at this point. Hearing is the last sense to fully develop—puppies can’t hear until they are about three weeks old. Without sight and hearing, newborn pups use smell to navigate their world.

COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines
1.) Until further notice, clients with appointments have priority over walk-ins regardless of the wait time. So call ahead! 773-783-7606. We have same day appointments available. Please call in advance for instructions on social distancing at the hospital and any change in hours of operation. If you need urgent care, call for a referral to an emergency room or appointment at Auburn. We'll ask walk-in clients to wait in their cars until appointment time.

2.) Dr. Carpenter will continue to speak to every client regarding the care of their pet. Our clients will continue receiving the education and guidance in pet care to which they’ve grown accustomed at Auburn. However, these conversations will take place from behind our front counter. We've scheduled appointments to maintain social distancing in our waiting room.

3.) You will not be able to accompany your pet to the exam room. We’ll ask that you practice social distancing in our waiting room while your pet is being treated. We'll call you to the front desk for a full report once treatment has concluded. Unless absolutely necessary, we are requesting you not bring multiple family members to your pet care visit. You will not be able to use the hospital restroom.

Finally, and most importantly, IF YOU FEEL ILL, please stay at home for your own sake and the safety of others. If you experience flu symptoms, call your doctor. If advised, see a doctor for medical care. Please take COVID-19 precautions, and shelter at home guidelines seriously.
