🐾 Wildcard Wednesday: Why Can’t We Always Say Yes? 🐾

We know how hard it is when you’re trying to help an animal in need — and we wish we could say “yes” every time. But sometimes, we simply can’t take in a pet. Here’s why:

✅ Limited Space: Our shelter and foster homes are often at full capacity. We prioritize animals already in our care or those in immediate danger.
✅ Special Needs: Some pets require medical or behavioral support that we aren't equipped to provide.
✅ Resource Realities: Every intake involves time, funding, and veterinary care. To protect the animals and our team, we have to make thoughtful, responsible choices.

💛 The good news? We’re still here to help with guidance, resources, and referrals. Thank you for your compassion - and for understanding the tough calls we sometimes have to make.

We had a wonderful time today meeting everyone at the Pride A-Roundtown event with HumanKindness Alliance!

Adoptable Rowdy (peekapoo) and Bella (Chihuahua) had a great time getting pets from everyone while they searched for their forever homes!

We ran into some old friends and met some new! We love being apart of the wonderful Pickaway County Community!

A good rule of thumb is the 3-3-3 guideline:

❤️ 3 days to start relaxing and recover from the stress of change.
❤️ 3 weeks to learn the household routine.
❤️ 3 months to truly feel at home and show their full personality.

Here’s how you can help them settle in:

🛏 Create a safe space where they can retreat and relax.
⏳ Be patient — every animal adjusts at their own pace.
🐾 Limit introductions to new people or pets at first.
🎯 Stick to a routine for feeding, play, and rest.
💕 Offer gentle affection and let them come to you.
