Wild Spirits Animal Sanctuary

Wild Spirits Animal Sanctuary This is a fake page for my Technical Writing class. Hello, my name is Jordan Higgins, founder of Wild Spirits animal sanctuary.

I founded this sanctuary ten years ago when I stumbled upon an injured fox (later named Sasha) on the side of the road. She was in dire need of some medical attention but, luckily, I was able to rush her to a veterinarian and she was able to make a recovery. However, in her condition, she was unable to return to the wild. Naturally, I became inspired to provide the best home I could provide for Sa

sha and built her a shelter on my land. Shortly thereafter, I was approached by a couple with a tiger, Bruce, who had grown too large to live in their small apartment anymore. I had just recently bought a large property and was able to accept the responsibility for his care. A few months later, a nearby zoo shut down and needed to find homes for their animals so I took on care for three wolves, a sun bear, an ocelot, a white Siberian tiger, a red panda and two cheetahs. Slowly, more and more animals were brought to me and over the next few years, my little animal family grew. With help from my beloved family and colleagues I have been able to share the joys of all these animals and created a sanctuary open to the public. It became our goal to, not only rescue and care for animals in need, but to also educate the public about the animals and the problems they face in the world today. We currently have 20 enclosures and continue to build and expand every day. We are currently working on building a larger cheetah enclosure so that they have more room to exercise. In addition, we are in the middle of paving the pathways between all the enclosures. We provide daily guided tours of all the animals in hopes of sharing both the animals individual stories as well as an overall background of the species and the problems that face them. We also have a separate facility for domestic dogs and cats that are up for adoption. Over the years, we’ve rescued countless dogs and cats that would have otherwise been put down, or were abandoned by their previous owners. These adorable animals would love to find their own homes. We hope that guests will come to our sanctuary with open hearts and feel as inspired as I was ten years ago to change the lives of animals and take on their care. Thanks to many helpful volunteers, we are able to provide the best care for our animals. For the cheap price of 15 dollars per person, people are able to experience these amazing animals first hand. In addition, on Wednesdays, and Fridays, guests may watch cheetah and wolf training sessions which is fun entertainment and the animals love an audience! We gratefully accept any donations that would help feed and care for the animals.

Click here to view a wonderful documentary showing how important wolves are to maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem. Without wolves, it changes the entire course of the landscape. Thus, they need to be protected.

A healthy wolf population supports healthy wildlife habitat. Wolves are vital to the delicate balance of the forest ecosystem because they influence the feeding behavior of deer and elk, allowing vegetation to grow in the forests and along streams, which in turn supports birds, fish and beaver. Wanda finally had her puppies!!! She's such a happy mother it's wonderful. She gave birth to six beautiful healthy little baby wolves. We have yet to name them but we will be holding a contest for children ages 3-12 to help us name them! Wanda is doing very well and the puppies seem very happy with the world that they've come into. Please feel free to come visit these adorable guys!

I'm pleased to welcome a new addition to our little family! Gerald the alligator was just discovered chasing after someone's cat in anderson! Crazy, I know right. I think he'll do much better in our sanctuary vs. wandering the crowded streets and causing dangerous situations for people and himself. Gerald is yet another example of what happens when people try and own exotic pets. His previous family probably raised him in the bathtub until he got big enough to be craving more than just slices of ham. Wild animals are dangerous and deserve to be treated with respect. Please. Don't purchase exotic pets.

I would happily like to announce we just had our 100,000 guest visit the sanctuary today!! Thank you to all the workers and volunteers that have made this sanctuary possible and have helped change the lives of so many animals and people too!

After a few fun weekends with the girlscouts, I'm so excited to announce that they've offered to donate a portion of their cookie funds to our sanctuary! Thank you so much girlscouts! Rory the sun bear and all our other animals are so grateful to these sweet little girls who grew to care about these animals and want to help as much as they can. Just a reminder to everyone else out there, donations are incredibly helpful, more than you know so any amount of money helps tremendously.

These upcoming weekends, March 4-6 and 11-13 we are pleased to invite local girlscout troops to visit our sanctuary, take a tour of our facilities and get a glimpse of the behind the scenes life of running a sanctuary. They'll even be able to spend the night and enjoy some delicious s'mores.

Thank you to everyone who attended our weekend rent-a-puppy fundraiser at Y-beach in Clemson! We had such a great turn out and I'm so glad to say that the money raised will be used towards taking care of our ever growing animal family! Especially with wolf pups on the way, we will definitely need it! In addition, I am happy to announce, the fundraiser also ended with 5 beautiful puppies finding new homes!

I just spent a lovely weekend at this beautiful, quaint sanctuary. I absolutely loved seeing all the animals! The wolves were especially active and were all playing with each other! I learned that two of the wolves have grown up together since they were pups and are actually expecting pups of their own now! Super adorable. The tigers were so huge! It was crazy seeing them so up close. It's so sad that such amazing creatures are suffering so much from things like deforestation. I definitely want to go back and recommend this sanctuary to anyone!

Yahoo’s Japanese online commerce platforms are a hub for ivory from dubious sources. The internet giant is thus making itself an accomplice to the poachers that are driving the world’s elephants to extinction. Tell Yahoo to get out of the ivory business.
