A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.
They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.
May you be so fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you.
And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude 🙏

Upcoming Show Season News

Due to popular demand, SHOBA will once again be in the show ring. We had intended to back away from showing because of unfair and untrue comments about preferential treatment to a select few riders/owners. In the SHOBA show ring, it is the horse that is judged for what he/she is doing at that time. It's not about the owner, the rider, the past, or politicking behind the scenes, but it is about the horse, the gait and the style. We are preferential to all good horses; owners and riders are beside the point in the show ring. We will have classes at the CPM Memorial show and at SCRHA Burley Fest show. We are also intend to show in two other shows and those dates will be posted as soon as we have confirmation.

It's finished! We went to see Eli Miller Monday and picked up the one-of-a-kind SHOBA 2016 Fall Celebration saddle that will be raffled off at the SHOBA Fall Celebration Trail Ride at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp September 8-11. It is a piece of art. Jacob Miller, Eli's son, recreated the SHOBA logo on the saddle and it is flawless! Tickets are $20 each or six for $100 and you don't have to be present to win.
