Apple is still waiting for her forever home.
๐๐
This sweet girl has so much love to give, but she's still patiently waiting for someone to find her.
Apple is a playful, affectionate companion who loves curling up in sunny spots or in your lap.
She needs a family with another young cat companion in the home.
She is a little shy at first.
Respectful dogs and kids would be ok for her but would require patience and time.

Calici virus is a common feline virus that can cause upper respiratory infections, oral ulcers, lesions around the nose and mouth, and in some cases, lameness.
Recently, our foster cat Burton developed a small lesion on his nose that rapidly worsened over just a few days.
Concerned for his health, his foster mom took him to our trusted vet, where he was diagnosed with Calici virus.
๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ข ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ?
Feline Calici virus (FCV) is highly contagious among cats and can spread through direct contact with an infected cat or contaminated surfaces (like food bowls, litter boxes, and bedding).
Symptoms can vary but often include:
๐Sneezing, nasal, or eye discharge
๐Fever
๐Mouth ulcers causing drooling or pain when eating
๐Limping or joint pain, or lameness
๐skin lesions like the one Burton experienced

While thereโs no specific cure for Calici virus, in most cases, Calici virus will subside on its own as the cat's immune system fights off the infection.
However, symptoms can sometimes be severe or cause secondary issues like bacterial infections, which may require veterinary treatment.
This may include:
โ
Medications to manage symptoms (e.g., pain relievers or antibiotics for secondary infections)
โ
Nutritional support if the cat struggles to eat due to mouth pain
โ
Keeping the cat hydrated and comfortable

Vaccination is the best way to protect your cat from severe cases of Calici virus.
Although vaccinated cats like Burton can still catch the virus, their symptoms are typically much milder.
Always keep your catโs vaccinations up to date, especially if they interact with other cats.

Is on the market
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated toward Otto's vet care and for your continued support.
Weโve raised enough to cover all his bills, last week's large TNR expenses, and even have a bit extra for our ongoing TNR efforts/ future vet bills.
Otto is doing wonderfully and adapting well to life on three legs, and we are looking forward to finding him a forever home soon!
New arrivals
received our new trio of rescues this afternoon . Two long haired Siamese and one long haired ginger. Thank you to our fosters who stepped in to offer them a safe place to stay while we work on socializing and treating for mild ringworm. ๐พโค๏ธ
