We need to take a second to acknowledge some of the amazing people in our cat community on this International Cat Day because Reno is truly BLESSED to have so many resources and amazing agencies rallying for cats and pets in general.
Not every city/ state has no-kill shelters, free or low cost spays and neuters, multiple TNR services and multiple organizations that help with TNR, and animal control employees who deeply care about the pets in the community .
♥️Starting with Tracy Dean with Community Cats She is absolute Godsend to local homeless cats.
She deserves ALL the praise for her astounding work in our community for starters. Next is her right hand man, Sydney who has been an amazing asset to the team and community the last year And Andrea who has also been hard at work along side them.
Bless up.
♥️Dr Fitz from the Nevada Humane Society
Is also our one our angels in animal welfare.
She understands the mission, the importance of spay/neuter in community cat colonies , and goes above and beyond to help the community cats and the people who help them .
♥️Kiley Cryer of the NHS as well for prioritizing resources and outreach for Trap-Neuter-Return in our community and also for dealing with us when we sporadically need extra appointments.
♥️And of course , we have our personal vet Dr Hazelwood with Advanced Petcare for all our additional medical needs beyond spay/ neuter.
You’ll thank us later ⬆️
♥️Options Veterinary Care for assisting with people who would otherwise not be able to afford vet care at private vets. Many animals suffer unnecessarily because the high prices of vet care , but Options team help prevent that suffering and always work with everyone around financial barriers.
♥️ Washoe County Regional Animal Services for being one of the BEST animal controls around.
Doing their absolute best to network with local agencies to prevent euthanasias due to overcrowding, being kind and compassionate to animals in their care, and lets give it up to the officers who have to deal with the most heartbreaking calls each day and still show up for our community.
♥️♥️ and last,
our INCREDIBLE team of fosters, volunteers, trappers, and most of those are just a few people wearing all of those hats.
We couldn’t do any of the work that we do without our team beside us.
They do the never ending kitty shuffle, the adoptions , answering the calls , doing the trapping, the cleaning, the transporting, the socializing….. the list continues .
We are building up such a beautiful team and I couldn’t be more proud of us, and the community we live in .
