Merry Christmas from Ziggy!!! š¦ the zebra stripes really caught his eye!
Ziggy our Zebra is so well loved and lives at Horse-N-Round Fun Farm and often steals the show
Merry Christmas from Ziggy!!! š¦ the zebra stripes really caught his eye!
Ziggy and his best friend Dreamer waiting on Christmas!
Happy 1.5 years old birthday Ziggy!
As we all know, Ziggy our zebra formed a strong bond and imprinted on Cody.
But with that, Ziggy still thrives co-existing harmoniously surrounded by a diverse range of our animals, showcasing the beauty of species diversity on our farm.
Lately, Ziggy has taken up with Dreamer, a very young filly owned and paid for solely by our 9 year old daughter, Chloey.
Ziggy & Dreamer kick up their heals together zooming all over the farm then will kick back and take naps side by side.
But donāt worry, Ziggy will never forget Cody as he always has his eyes and ears open watching for any signs of Cody being anywhere close. You can hear Ziggy bark (holler) after Cody if he hears him but canāt see him. Cody and the rest of our family still take naps with him when we can.
Come see Ziggy during our Christmas on the Farm! Pony Rides/The Grinch/Petting Zoo/Santa & Mrs. Claus & MORE! coming up next weekend!
We donāt normally post our personal life on our business page, but since vaguely mentioning Cody in the hospital so extending our gift card sale (which has put us behind on tons of business stuff with Cody being down and my workload much more), I figured Iād elaborate more on it since some are asking.
Cody went to bed last Wednesday, the night before thanksgiving, and has been bed ridden since last week.
We work on a farm daily so are pretty tough and not much brings us down (we even will gimp along doing farm chores with broken bones and more if needed if that tells you anything š).
Cody completely missed Thanksgiving (his favorite holiday š) and couldnāt get out of bed for 4 days straight without anything letting up and getting much worse with his headache/stiff neck/vomiting & fever.
Sunday morning, we came to the Grove City Mount Caramel ER to find him relief and answers of what made him bed ridden like this.
He was negative for Covid/flu and such so the first doctor that saw us, tried sending him home just saying he had an ear infection.
I told them itās not just an ear infection, we wouldnāt come here for just an ear infection, itās something more to keep him down like this. We suspected meningitis with his symptoms but the doctor reassured it is not that but brought in another doctor to go over everything.
The second doctor also didnāt believe he had it and reiterated not doing an MRI/CT Scan or Spinal Tap.
The second doctor finally came to an agreement after me being very persistent in answers, to do an MRI at which he still strongly didnāt think was necessary.
The MRI came back with a spot on Codyās brain in the area that it had been hurting the most in.
A third doctor came in saying the spot on his brain wasnāt a big deal and probably just nothing. He said Cody would be dead by now if he had bacterial meningitis. But he did admit Cody at that point and were going to redo his MRI with contrast on his brain this time.
The 4th doctor that came in Sunday evening, was absolutely wonderful. He was genuinely concerned and worried about Cody, and was the first doctor to finally point out he strongly believes Cody has meningitis so he ordered up a spinal tap.
While waiting, they put him on 3 big strong fluid antibiotics to broadly cover any infections of whatever it is. Nothing helped Codyās head/neck even strong meds didnāt work, until those fluid antibiotics kicked in overnight Sunday. He finally had relief and the second MRI Monday morning came in clear as the antibiotics worked.
From there on, every doctor involved was concerned, thorough and wonderful.
His spinal tap was done Monday afternoon and it did indeed show he has aseptic (viral) meningitis. We are waiting on the rest of the results but thankfully it is not any of the big scary types, just suspected to be from a common enterovirus that for Cody, turned into all of this. It is not contagious and he should be discharged soon and on the mend to be going back to normal since itās all seemed to be cleared up.
Please bare with us as we have tons of catching up to do on both the business end, and our farm. Thanksgiving morning I walked out to find water gushing all over our fields which one of our draft horses knocked over our well head, which broke a water line underground also losing water pressure in our home as a result. So Cody has lots to do helping dig up water lines and replace our water pressure tank on top of many projects and more we need done before events coming up but going to slowly try to get him back going with it all.
This weekend we have lots of upcoming carriage rides, pony rides, petting zoo, nativity scene, hauling Santa in parades with carriage rides and more.
There is another post on this page that has Grove City & Mount Sterling in all caps which has the info for this weekend. We will try to make a post with the public events for the entire month so you know where you can find us.
We appreciate everyone being very patient and understanding and hope to see you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Love Ziggy with the Zoomies on this sunny day!
These two are the best and have seen Ziggy since we got him at 3 weeks old! Ziggy still loves them even with occasional pokes, they help us keep him healthy and feeling great!
Ziggy kept her busy on her first day back to work!
Ziggy is happy to leave OSU and come home!
All is well, they extracted a baby tooth that was coming in wonky and his laceration in his upper gums is going to heal on itās own.
The past few weeks he has been a little cranky and chewing on everything. He was basically teething since he had new baby teeth trying to come in offset from where they are supposed to.
In response to teething, Ziggy somehow managed to rub his upper gums slicing them rather deep right before his vet visit that was already scheduled.
He went to OSU straight from his primary vet just incase it was going to be very involved so nothing was missed.
They x-rayed to ensure there was no damage done internally which all checked out great.
His adult teeth are not yet developed so no damage was done thankfully.
No sutures were done, instead we will rinse his mouth daily with salt water, give pain meds and everything will heal up by the next couple weeks.
Thanks for thinking of Ziggy during this unexpected OSU visit.
Also thanks to a great friend Aileen Martin for hauling since our extra truck is down & Cody has our main truck/trailer down in Bainbridge.
Ziggy is over 400lbs doubling his weight from February! Heās grown several inches taller as well as really filling out.
Heās really growing and thriving!
Ziggy and his roommate trying pumpkins for their first time
Ziggy loves his girls too, maybe not as much as Cody, but he still loves them so šš¦
Happy fall yāall!
Love, Ziggy š¦šš
Hello?! Service?! Zebra tender?! Dinner needs to be served now! What is taking the walk thru window so long?!
-A Hungry Ziggy
Ziggy loves his vet, technicians and assistants, especially Katie & Dr. Oehrig!
*Pic of Ziggy last winter during his big health scare.
Love seeing them but try not to see them too often š

Happy Vet Technician and Assistant week! We have a fabulous team of vet assistants that we could not be Bella Vista Equine Veterinary Services without. Please follow us this week in thanking and appreciating each of our hard working assistants!
Next up is Katie W! Katie has been with Bella Vista for 4 years now! She is our lead assistant and we are so grateful for all the extra support she gives us. Katie manages our assistants and does their shift scheduling, makes our clinic beautiful, ensures that we have working equipment, and always finds time to take on special projects even while working full time with Dr. Oehrig. Katie is an incredibly hard worker and we are so lucky to have her!

What is Ziggy up to only 1 day after coming back home from OSU? Oh, what heās been up to all month longā¦ teething on everything while āhelpingā build fence as he always has to be helping with any and all projects. Did you know, his absolute favorite thing to chew on is leather especially Codyās leather belt š
Ziggy is happy to be home with his favorite person. Volume up, please donāt try this as results may not be the same for anyone else. Ziggy still to this day loves to suckle at 17 months old š
Some employees at a UDF saw our trailer & asked us to bring a horse out to see. I told them Iād do them one better and brought my striped horse out. š š¦ Brought tons of joy in Gahanna, Ohio this evening during and even after the VFW suicide prevention event for veterans. *thanks to our brother-in-law for capturing a video*
Someoneās still a little spoiled by his dad. Ziggyās bringing smiles during a veterans suicide prevention event
Happy 1st BIRTHDAY Ziggy!!! It didnāt take long to gain his love and trust when we first brought him home July 2nd, 2022 but he has came such a long way in many ways since then. Thank you everyone for loving our boy as much as we love him!
Ziggy is looking so grown and didnāt mind clippers at all. Body clipped half of him at 10:30pm so far tonight after the go ahead from his vet. Videos & pics later tomorrow. Heās never seen/heard clippers aside from when he was at OSU for surgery prep etc. His stripes are really popping now š„¹
Itās been awhile but did some ground pole work with Ziggy. He jumped when we trotted over but going to slowly keep him doing flat work and just walking over š
4/10/23 Ziggy is in his element full swing. He follows us all over the farm no matter where we go or what we are doing. We took him to a small event on the 6th (His 10 month birthday!) just to prep him for his long ride to KY. The event last Thursday was his very first trailer ride since coming home from his long stay at OSU. He went from self loading to unsure about going as he thought we were going back to the vet. He was a bit nervous going out but eventually settled. Once he had time to realize he was with us and his animal friends, he quickly learned that we arenāt leaving him or going back to the vet. KY trip he did wonderful loading, being tied, standing for the event and was very quiet. He was happy to just be with us. Heās so happy to be back to normal life free roaming the farm following us everywhere and taking daily naps again. Chloey was able to let him nap on her lap and spend some quality time together today. š¦š #ZiggyStrong
3/30/23 Ziggy is finally out of quarantine free to go where he wants in the front field but he always chooses to be near us. We will never leave you Ziggy šš¦ #ZiggyStrong
3/29/23 7 weeks ago Ziggy was fighting for his life at OSU. He couldnāt hardly stand and get up. His levels all dropped and things didnāt look great. We and the vets didnāt know if he would make it out or not. As most have watched his progress over these past 7 weeks, this is the normal Ziggy from before! Look how quick he can get up again! Heās back to himself feeling great, rolling, having no hesitation to get up. His hocks are starting finally have a gap and straighten out! We couldnāt be any happier with the mountains of progress this little zebra has made. Ziggy is strong and never gave up, and neither did we or any of you. Thank you all so much for holding onto hope with us. š¦š #ZiggyStrong
