🐾 Let’s talk Belgian Malinois….can they be a family pet? Yes, but with some important considerations! These pups are 100% working dogs with high energy levels and intelligence. Many end up in shelters due to "bad behavior" when in reality they are just bored and not properly stimulated.

🧠 Mental exercise is just as crucial as physical activity for Malinois. Training and activities that engage their brain and nose are essential for their well-being. Remember, they need at least 20 minutes of mental stimulation daily!

🥺It's heartbreaking to see dogs labeled as "bad" when it's really a lack of understanding and education on the breed. Don't be afraid to seek help from experienced trainers or utilize free resources like YouTube, TikTok, or Google to learn more about your dog's needs.

📚 Before bringing home any dog, especially a breed like the Belgian Malinois, do your research to ensure they align with your lifestyle and the time you can dedicate to them each day. Let's work together to provide these amazing dogs with the love and care they deserve! ❤️🐾

🌟 Embracing the Starfish Story 🌟

I first came across the starfish story when I was just 8 years old, and its message has stayed with me ever since. My love for animals was instilled in me by my father, and I am forever grateful to my parents for always encouraging and supporting my passion for animals and animal rescue. This love has carried on into my adult life, and now I have the joy of passing it on to my son, who shares the same deep connection with animals as I do.

With 6 dogs of my own, 5 of them being rescues, I knew that simply adding more to my pack wasn't the best way to serve the overflowing dog population. However, my desire to help was strong, and that's when the idea of becoming a foster was presented to me. After researching and speaking with other fosters, I realized that this was the perfect path for me. My experience with various animals and breeds, including those labeled as "aggressive" or "reactive," could make a real difference for dogs in shelters who simply need a chance to thrive in the right environment.

And so, my fostering journey began. I created this page to simply share the stories of these incredible souls and be their advocate and voice and bring awareness to the dire situation with overcrowding in shelters across the county. I am so thankful to Dallas Animal Services for allowing me to be apart of their foster program and I hope you all enjoy following along on this journey of love, compassion, and second chances. 🐾💕

🐾 Meet Troy, the Belgian Malinois💕 Despite their tough reputation, Belgian Malinois are actually highly sensitive dogs. Just like humans, dogs can experience stress and insecurity, which can manifest in challenging behaviors. In Troy's case, his time in a shelter was overwhelming, but as a foster with us, he's had the opportunity to decompress and show his true personality. So far, he's shown zero signs of aggression or reactivity. It's important to remember that a dog's behavior is often a reflection of their emotional state, and with love, patience, exercise, mental stimulation, and training, they can flourish.
