It is my favorite time of year!
NOT!
Algae blooms in the water likely caused by agriculture runoff and additives in the city's tapwater. Time to bleach and scrub 6 racks of jars so I am not cringing at all the gross, slimey film.

And before people start giving advice-
1)The water goes through carbon block, sediment, and water softener filters. This does not help phosphates or nitrates.
2) RO water is insanely expensive when you need a commercial unit running 1000-1500 gallons a week plus the cost of remineralization
3) Nitrates are under EPA's standards of 10ppm
4) Phosphate levels do not require testing and I suspect they add phosphates to the water in warmer months to prevent the release of metals into drinking water.
5) Besides owning Prism Bettas for 10 years, I am also an ecologist and have among other things worked on water quality improvement projects including in my watershed. ;)
6) Anyone who says to move to Chicago has to pay my Chicago rent and taxes :p
