Okay so I learned something new and I wanted to share it with all of you. Apparently people aren't the only ones that have a little too much to drink. I found this little Cedar waxwing in our driveway and he was kind of Tipsy and sitting back on his haunches and couldn't fly. I put him in a box and called wildside and to my surprise I found out that sometimes these birds eat too many berries and get a little drunk. I'm happy to say he has sobered up and flown away. 😅

It's that time of year again, day two of filling the barn with hay. The hay cost $3500. to feed our rescue for the year. We welcome donations anytime. Our annual witches night fundraiser will be October 13th this year at Craft Co. And we will be collecting returnable after labor day. Thank you to the person who got a head start and dropped off bottles today. Stay tuned for our farm to table sale later this week. Love ❤️

Someone needs to tell Bettyboop the duck that River isn't looking for a roommate. She wanders into his stall every morning and watches him eat his breakfast. She then looks for a cozy spot to lay down. 😅 as you can see he's not excited about the company. 😂

Okay guys I've been pretty quiet here for a while now. So let me tell you what's been going on. Herbal alchemy has changed their social selling platform. They are no longer going to support ambassadors. They are going to do an affiliate program only, we think. 🤔 They haven't been super forthcoming with information. So we don't know exactly what's happening. The company is continuing on and you can still buy from my link. However Because of all the changes with Herbal Alchemy I've decided to make a little change myself. I'm sorry for my silence but it's taken me a Little while to process and come up with a new plan to help support the farm.

The Fanciful Farm apothecary is back!!! I'm going to start dabbling once again with herbal Remedies. I'm going to start with a Tallow lotion bar pretty similar to the lavender one that herbal Alchemy offers but at a much better price. I'm waiting for all my supplies to arrive and then I'll start creating. Of course I'll take you all along on the journey with me and as always I so appreciate and love all of your support for me and the my little farm. ❤️ You are the reason I can continue to rescue and sanctuary the animals in need.

With the increase in mosquitoes there posing an increased chance of fowl pox getting into your flock (no, humans cannot get it). Check your birds often and use preventative measures when possible.

I generally do not share the horrible heart wrenching cases we take in, but this is the second chemical burn fawn we have received this month.
Both fawns were found in areas that had been sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. At what point do we finally stand up for these creatures and take responsibility for the suffering and deaths we are causing with these acts?

The high temperatures and high humidity has been a little bit challenging for our turkey, delicious, she's been resting quietly in a stall in the barn for the last couple of days. She enjoyed a cool bath and seems to have perked up quite a bit.
Weather is a challenge for farmers. Animals as well as people have to make adjustments. The bugs, the extreme weather, cold and hot, along with pop up storms, can make things difficult. I prefer the heat over the cold but not all of the animals agree with my preference. 😉

HOG TIED GOOSE

Another victim of human laziness… this guy was very lucky and didn’t have any major damage from the fishing line.
This is far from the first water fowl that we have personally untangled its just the first in a while they we’ve decided to document and feel it is important for people in the community to know that this IS a major problem!

We were contacted by a citizen and asked if we could come downtown near the river where a goose had been sitting apparently for days on the walkway, they thought it was injured.. possibly hit by a car. People were passing him by for days but not helping this person was told. This guy was literally hog tied by the fishing line. Many layers of fishing line was wrapped around BOTH legs and he was unable to walk. We are not sure how he even got out of the water and to the walkway.

With the assistance of the individual who called we were able to catch the goose after about an hour of chasing him in the water up and down the river. As we released him back to his mate and gosling who were nervously waiting nearby for his return we noticed MORE abandoned fishing line hanging into the water. We put a kayak in the water and removed what we could but this is something that needs to be addressed in the community of Eaton Rapids, it’s becoming a bigger problem every year it seems and is all due to human laziness and carelessness.
Earlier this week duck from the same area was not so luck as this goose and died as a result of disgarded fishing line.
Thankfully this goose didn’t have major long term damage other than possibly the loss of one of his hallux or some nerve damage due to the circulation being cut off. But he can live and still thrive with one less hallux!

Thank you to all that help to clean up left behind fishing line around the parks, thank you to the person who contacted us and stayed on site until the goose was able to be caught and returned to his family and to those who helped untangle him.

COME ON HUMANS!!!

Every day on the farm is unpredictable and some days get a little crazy. Today was no exception. It started out with a stall full of baby mice that were chased and some may have become breakfast for a couple hungry ducks. 😬 shortly after breakfast Delicious the turkey started her usual bloody brawl with Moses the duck. The day ended with an unexpected guest (groundhog) in River's stall. After he was coaxed out of the barn the horses went on a rampage, chasing him down. Mr. Farmer eventually rescued him.
🤪😜🤭 never a dull moment and yes Prudence hopped on the Turkey. The evening trip from the barn was met with one of the sets of twins fawns waiting for mom's return. 🩷

I could live in summer forever. The sun's warm kiss and nature in vibrant hues of green are just a couple of my favorite things about summer. I love the long days of lovely light and the sight of baby animals around every corner. ❤️🌞
