Mini Pearl at her second ALS Walk and first as a full service dog. Check out here shoes, she did great. She needed a couple of breaks on the walk, but she finished with that smile that warmed everyone's heart.

On 9/21/24 Weight & Wags was called to evaluate a pup with Rover Rescue that was in Libertyville animal control. He was going to be put down at the end of the day. The dog was reported that control could not assess it because it was too scared and sat in the back of the cage. I arrived and the head of the rescue and the original owner (who gave it to a friend to take care of) was there. The pup was outside of the cage, happy to see the owner, and already working with the head of the rescue. I came in and he just came to me, i sat with him and he was a amazing dog. The owner explained that the cues that he used were in Spanish (unknow to control or the rescue). After this information was given, the whole session changed. The pup was so skinny his ribs were showing, yet his smile lit up the room. He knew sit, stay, find it, and was ok with a collar and leash. Eventually, he went right into the car and was off to a great foster home with the head of the rescue. This was one of those times that embraces the fact that there are good people out there, thank you Rover Rescue and the Animal Control for allowing the opportunity to save a life. There are still heros out there and they don't always wear capes.

Weights & Wags is so honored to partner with Rover Rescue in Aurora to provide initial training for free. If someone provide a forever home to one of their pups then Weights & Wags, inc. will provide an initial consultation to assure that that the pup will be a part of the forever team. We look forward to this partnership to provide help to those who have opened their hearts and homes to the pups that need it most.

Mini Pearl had her final test at the Ability Expo this weekend. She now can remove the “in training” off of her service dog vest.
